Kevin Owens Provides an Unfortunate Update on His Neck Surgery
Kevin Owens is potentially dealing with the worst injury of his professional career at the moment. He's not been able to figure it out completely just yet.

A few weeks prior to WrestleMania 41, Kevin Owens announced that he’d be out of in-ring action indefinitely to nurse a neck injury. It’s been over a month since that sullen revelation, but KO has yet to undergo surgery for it. The 41-year-old recently posted an update on what’s going on with his neck.
He’s still figuring out the best way possible to move ahead with the kind of neck issue that was holding him back, revealed Owens on X. Apart from that, The Anti-Christ of Pro Wrestling also gave a shoutout to his ten-year anniversary of beating John Cena on his Raw debut. Owens underscored that it changed the entire complexion of his career.
We don’t have a surgery date yet. I have not had surgery yet. Despite reports to the contrary. We’re still gonna try to figure out what the best way to go about it all is, exactly what needs to be done. So we’re kind of figuring that out still. So, there’s a lot of uncertainty but hopefully in the next few weeks, we get clarity and we do the surgery and then we go from there
Watch it.

The former Universal Champion was extremely grateful towards the fans for supporting him along the way. Last but certainly not least, Owens unveiled a book written on his and Sami Zayn‘s career trajectories by J.J. McGee. It’s titled Fight Forever: The Ballad of Kevin and Sami. Owens heaped praise on McGee’s understanding of the ins and outs of what these men are up to inside the squared circle.
Owens revealed in an interview that he jarred up his neck in a normal match back in January 2025. He went on to have two of the most brutal matches in the following months with the likes of Cody Rhodes and Sami Zayn. As per The Prizefighter, he didn’t sense any sort of discomfort in his neck while taking the bumps that he did.
What Randy Orton did from his side for Kevin Owens’ neck injury?
Kevin Owens was supposed to face Randy Orton in a grudge match at WrestleMania this year. Their on-screen issues were simmering for a while, and it had gotten to a point where the two former world champions were willing to risk it all to maim each other. It just wasn’t to be. Shortly after KO’s reveal of the injury, The Viper had set him up for a second opinion on the neck surgery he was set to undergo.

The 14-time world champion recommended the neck surgeon to Owens he’d previously worked with. The Quebec-born wrestler hasn’t commented on what assistance he’s getting from Orton’s contact, but it was certainly a sweet gesture from The Apex Predator. Once Owens dropped out from the contention of being Orton’s WrestleMania opponent, TNA World Champ Joe Hendry was roped in as the replacement.
Hendry’s arrival brought the Allegiant Stadium to its feet, and the entire scenario was a resounding success. Recently, Orton admitted that he pushed hard for the Scot to be his replacement at The Show of Shows.
While a couple of higher-ups weren’t on board with The Viper initially, everything worked itself out. Despite being banged up at the time, Owens was backstage at WrestleMania. He was spotted cheering Becky Lynch just before she was about to head out for her surprise return.
When one could expect Kevin Owens to return?
Last month, a report from Fightful Select dove into the potential return timeframe for Kevin Owens. The Canadian Dream, who has yet to undergo surgery, isn’t expected back in WWE this year. In fact, the chances of him missing WrestleMania 42 in New Orleans have started to pile up. If the recovery is not done right, it could jeopardize his entire career.

With the French-Canadian in his 40s, he already has the majority of his in-ring career in the rearview mirror. While a premature retirement is always a possibility in these cases, the fans are still hopeful of The Prizefighter making a full recovery and eventually plotting a return to the ring.
Owens hasn’t won a world title in WWE since 2017. It has been a major pet-peeve for most of his fanbase and who knows if there’s one last title reign left in his career? Since one of Owens’ biggest advocates viz., Triple H is calling the shots now, KO might soon get his reward.
