Dave Bautista left WWE in 2010 to pursue opportunities in Hollywood. Over 15 years removed from making that full-time transition from the squared circle to the big screen, he’s regarded as arguably the best wrestler-turned-actor in history. The 56-year-old recently sat down for an interview with Film Inside. He’s attained a level of work ethic, for which he credited his time in WWE.

Bautista asserted that being in the pro wrestling biz, WWE in particular, is the hardest grind he could ever think of. Being on a movie set might require longer hours. Having been in the movie-making business for such a long time now, The Animal finds it difficult to relate to the people who always bicker on the sets.

Being in Hollywood, being on a film set, it’s long hours, but compared to the grind of being a professional wrestler, it’s a cakewalk. It’s night and day.

The once-dubbed Muscleheaded Goofball had his last WWE match at WrestleMania 35 in 2019. At the namesake event, he lost to his longtime mentor-cum-friend, Triple H. It was a match that Bautista had wanted for years. The stars finally aligned six years ago, and the two former Evolution stablemates finally got it done at The Grandest Stage of Them All.

Last year, The Animal was asked by Chris Van Vliet if he ever gets the itch to return to WWE. The Guardians of the Galaxy actor did admit that he definitely misses the energy of a packed arena going bonkers when he used to walk out in front of them. However, the Hollywood mogul denied any possibility of making an in-ring return, as he doesn’t want to sabotage the storybook ending to his wrestling career.

Which WWE Superstar wants to act alongside Dave Bautista?

Last September, Dave Bautista’s The Killer’s Game hit the theaters, but eventually bombed at the box office. Also in the movie was Drew McIntyre, who was personally recommended to the movie’s director, J.J. Perry, by Bautista himself. The former six-time WWE Champion thought McIntyre would fit like a glove for a role Perry had his eyes on for someone.

Outside of McIntyre, another WWE name whom Bautista would like to work alongside in a movie is CM Punk. The latter is quite underrated as an actor, said The Animal in an interview with BuzzFeed Celeb. Bautista said that he was aware of the fact that Punk still wanted to dedicate most of his time to pro wrestling.

Until he’s deeply into it, The Second City Saint wouldn’t be able to fully tap into his acting skills. Quite recently, Punk also stated that he’s racing with Bautista to see who gets to act in a rom-com first. The Straight Edge Superstar said that both of them are emotional and they’d kill it in that genre. Punk also mentioned that he’s dying to work with the My Spy actor.

Why Dave Bautista would never do something like John Cena’s WWE retirement tour?

As mentioned above, Dave Bautista retired from the world of pro wrestling after losing to Triple H at WrestleMania 35. It was the last thing he wanted to do in his in-ring career before bowing out. It’s the polar opposite of what John Cena is doing right now.

He’s in the midst of a WWE farewell tour where he’s touring different cities around the globe to perform there one last time. Bautista shared his thoughts on it while speaking to Chris Van Vliet. First of all, the ex-Evolution member noted that he respects Cena and has always gotten along well with him, contrary to the internet rumors.

Coming on to his opinion of The Franchise Player’s way of riding off into the sunset, Bautista said that he’d never do it. There’s something in him that tells the 56-year-old that it’d have been disingenuous of him to stage a retirement tour of his own. The wrestling fans have always been appreciative of Bautista as someone who just never overstayed his welcome inside that ring.
