Martina Navratilova has been a major voice in the effort to protect women’s sports. The tennis legend recently reacted to two Oregon high school athletes who refused to stand with a transgender athlete following the girls’ high jump State Championship. This comes after she has previously slammed sports organizers for allowing such to happen.

The picture of Reese Eckard of Sherwood High School and Alexander Anderson of Tigard High School stepping down from the podium at the high jump State Championship event has gone viral on social media. The girl refused to share the podium with a transgender athlete, who finished fifth in the competition.

Anderson and Eckard finished third and fourth in the competition. Oregon is one of many states in the U.S. that is challenging President Donald Trump‘s “Keep Men Out of Women’s Sports” executive order, which the federal government has threatened to deny states government federal funding if not implemented.

After Trump signed the aforementioned executive order, Navratilova slammed the Democrats for not stepping up to protect women’s support. She has also particularly criticized the Democrats for not working with the Republican party on the “Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act”, which passed the House earlier this year.

An X user posted a picture of the two Oregon girls refusing to share a podium with a transgender athlete. The user then wrote:

Two girls who had to compete against a boy at the Oregon high jump state championships refused to step on the podium in protest. They were punished and sent to the sidelines. Gender ideology is male entitlement peddled as progressive.

Navratilova then retweeted the post revealing that misogyny has led to women and girls getting punished in sports.

Women and girls are punished no matter what they do in this misogynistic world…

Navratilova has also been a stern advocate for more support for women’s sports. The tennis legend clinched the most number of titles in the Open Era, both in singles (167) and doubles (177). She won 18 singles, 31 doubles, and 10 mixed doubles titles in Grand Slam events.

Martina Navratilova slams Donald Trump’s reaction after Supreme Court allowed him to deport nearly a million immigrants

The U.S. Supreme Court cleared the way for President Donald Trump’s administration to strip temporary legal protection from hundreds of thousands of immigrants. The judgment would expose nearly a million people to deportation from the country. The justices lifted the lower court order that kept the immigrants on humanitarian parole protection.

Nearly a million immigrants are from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela. The decision comes after the court allowed the Trump administration to revoke temporary legal status to 350,000 Venezuelans.

Martina Navratilova has been a huge critic of Trump’s immigration policies. After the Supreme Court judgment, Trump posted a picture of several airplanes in the sky with the line: “Let the deportations begin.” A user on X shared the post, Navratilova then reacted to the picture on X stating that Trump is one of the worst people who ever lived: “No doubt about it…

Navratilova has been very critical of Trump’s administration policies. Recently, she called out Donald Trump for his stance on student enrollment at Harvard University. It came after the Department of Homeland Security had revoked the prestigious university’s right to enroll international students, reportedly due to the institution’s issues with antisemitism and noncompliance with federal policies.

The 18-time singles Grand Slam champion regularly shares her opinions on the President’s official decisions and sometimes condemns him for his actions in public forums and reported issues in his administration.
