Martina Navratilova is a former pro and holds the distinction of most Grand Slam events won across all three disciplines. She was born on October 18, 1956, in Prague, then part of Czechoslovakia to parents Jana and Miroslav Subert. She turned Pro in 1974 and became an American citizen in 1975 due to Wars back home. She ranked World No. 1 in both Singles and Doubles and is the only player to have spent more than 200 weeks at top of the rankings in both disciplines before retiring from all disciplines in 2006.
