Comedian Rob Schneider has promised to pay the fine imposed against any Major League Baseball players for writing Bible verse references on their caps. Three San Francisco Giants pitchers, Landen Roupp, JT Brubaker and Ryan Walker, wrote a verse on their caps during Pride Night game against the Chicago Cubs.

They wrote ‘Gen 9:12-16’ on their caps, and it’s a reference to Genesis 9:12-16. But they were not fined by MLB. Reliever Sam Hentges chose not to wear the Pride Cap and instead wore the team’s standard cap. After the controversy, the San Francisco Giants said this in a statement:

The San Francisco Giants are proud to support Pride Night and the LGBTQ+ community. Baseball should be a place where everyone feels welcome, respected, and valued. We also respect that individuals may make personal choices about participating in team activations. We understand that the choices by individual players have caused pain and anger to many in the LGBTQ+ community, and we are sorry for that.

But Schneider has accused MLB of being anti-Christian. He took to X and promised to pay any future fines for showing the Bible verses.

I will pay the fines for any @MLB Christian player who wears a Bible verse on their uniform. @MLB is ANTI-CHRISTIAN.

Then, during his interview with Fox News, Schneider accused MLB of hypocrisy.

They’re all for diversity, equity, and inclusion, unless you have diversity of opinion; then you’re not included… What part of their contract said you have to promote leftist ideology that may be against your religious beliefs?

Referring to the clip of Schneider, tennis great Martina Navratilova accused him of homophobia. She wrote, “Eff off homophobes!!!!“

Martina Navratilova on Serena Williams’ return to the tour

Serena Williams is back on tour and has already played two matches. She and Victoria Mboko teamed up for the Queen’s Club Championships, but their run ended after the Canadian ace suffered a knee injury during her singles match against Karolina Pliskova.

Williams and Mboko beat Erin Routliffe and Nicole Melichar-Martinez, and later handed the walkover to Laura Siegemund and Leylah Fernandez. Martina Navratilova thinks Williams’ return to the tour will be a great opportunity for the young players to see the 23-time Grand Slam singles champion play.

Serena brought the game to another level, and it is incredible for the sport that she’s pushing the boundaries and coming back. To many of the younger players, they never had the opportunity to play her; some may have never watched her on television, so this will be a new and exciting experience.

Martina Navratilova said (H/T: WTA)

Williams next competed at the Berlin Open. She and doubles partner Karolina Muchova lost in straight sets to Routliffe and Giuliana Olmos.

Williams and sister, Venus Williams, have received the wild cards for Wimbledon doubles. The Williams sisters, winners of 14 Grand Slam doubles titles, last won a Major at the 2016 Wimbledon.

The main draw of the grass-court Major starts on June 29. Williams last won a Major at the 2017 Australian Open by defeating Venus, but the last time she played a Major final was at the 2019 US Open by defeating Bianca Andreescu. The last time she won a title was at the 2020 ASB Classic by defeating Jessica Pegula.

Venus has lost all the singles matches she has played so far. She was last seen in action in singles at the Madrid Open. At Wimbledon, Iga Swiatek will enter as the defending champion in singles.
