Aryna Sabalenka and Jannik Sinner Lost Heartbreaking Finals in Roland Garros This Year.

History has been made at Roland Garros, with Coco Gauff and Carlos Alcaraz taking home the coveted prize. The American and the Spaniard won their first and second French Crowns, respectively. Gauff beat Aryna Sabalenka, whereas Alcaraz took down Jannik Sinner.
However, what caught the most attention was the way in which the runner-ups behaved after the final. Sabalenka, known for her incredible runner-up speeches, has been under huge criticism for the way she refused to give credit to the winner.
After being overcome by emotions, Sabalenka decided to make it all about herself. The WTA World No.1 even said that if Iga Swiatek had made the final instead of her, she would have beaten Gauff to win Roland Garros.
On the other hand, Sinner, who was also massively hurt by the result, decided not to do such antics. The Italian gave Alcaraz his fair share of credit and cherished being part of a great final.
Tennis fans call out Aryna Sabalenka to learn from Jannik Sinner
After Jannik Sinner gave his runner-up speech, the criticism of Aryna Sabalenka increased on X. Many fans urged the Belarusian tennis star to learn some grace from the men’s World No.1

Despite having three consecutive match points Jannik Sinner puts aside disappointment to deliver a supremely classy tribute to Carlos Alcaraz. He opens by saying he deserves it and congratulates his team. Take note Aryna Sabalenka.

Completely agree.

Also both players had zero outbursts in the 5 hrs and 29 mins.
Once Aryna gets that under control, she will be almost unbeatable.
The staggering difference between Sinner’s and Sabalenka’s speeches after the match. One showed recognition of the opponent, thanked the staff and kept composure.

Perhaps @SabalenkaA could learn something from Sinner who didn’t try to undermine his opponent’s achievement by rubbishing their win. Instead he expressed his disappointment at losing whilst also wholeheartedly congratulating Alcaraz. Sinner has class unlike the bitter Sabalenka.

Jannik Sinner giving the exact opposite energy that Sabalenka gave in his post match speech

His level of maturity and perspective after the most crushing loss he’s ever had is EXTREMELY impressive.
That’s class
Sinner was more classy in losing a Grand Slam final where he led two sets to love, served for it and had three championship points than Sabalenka was in a match she lost the last two sets 6-2 and 6-4.

I don’t often credit Sinner but it’s due here. Sabalenka is pathetic.

Sabalenka should pick a thing or two from Sinner here just incase if next time.

Sabalenka: I was terrible and there was wind.

Sinner: thank you everyone and congrats Carlos.
That’s the difference between the two tours
Sabalenka labelled her performance in the Roland Garros final as ‘the worst in many months’. This was the second time she had lost a Grand Slam final to Coco Gauff, following her defeat in the 2023 US Open final.
On the other hand, the men’s World No.1 tasted defeat in Grand Slam finals for the first time. The Italian had won all of his previous three slam finals. Two of them came at the Australian Open, and one was at the US Open last year.
It remains to be seen how the duo will regroup from these setbacks with Wimbledon fast approaching. Like Roland Garros, neither of these two tennis stars have had success in SW19 before.
Jannik Sinner denied history
Jannik Sinner came into the French Open final with a chance to make history. After winning the Australian Open earlier in the year, he was aiming to become just the fifth man in the Open Era to win three consecutive Grand Slam titles. A second title of the season and a 20th career trophy were both within reach.

The 23-year-old had earned a significant win in the semi-finals, defeating three-time Roland Garros champion Novak Djokovic. However, he couldn’t overcome Carlos Alcaraz in a five-set battle. This marked the Italian’s first loss in a Grand Slam final, bringing his major final record to 3-1.
Italy still awaits another men’s singles champion at Roland Garros, with Adriano Panatta’s 1976 win remaining the country’s only triumph in the Open Era. Sinner’s strong campaign, though, reinforced his place among the game’s elite.
Despite the defeat, Sinner maintains his lead at the top of the PIF ATP Rankings. He now holds a 2,030-point advantage. Alcaraz, as the defending champion, did not gain additional points, while the World No.1 improved on last year’s semi-final finish to add 500 points to his total.
