It has been four years since Henry Ruggs III made the fatal decision to drive intoxicated. The up-and-coming star for the Las Vegas Raiders drove his Corvette at a speed of 156 miles per hour before crashing into an oncoming car. The impact of the crash totaled her car, killing Tina Tintor and her dog.

Subsequently, Henry Ruggs III was sentenced to between three and ten years in prison for felony DUI resulting in death and misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter. Ruggs III is nearing the period when he will be eligible to apply for parole. The former wide receiver has not spoken out since he was arrested.

Henry Ruggs III was allowed to speak at the ‘Hope for Prisoners’ event on 06.14.25 at the Billy Walters Center for Second Chances in Las Vegas. The wideout issued the following apology to the family of the deceased, Tina Tintor, at the event:

One that I wish I could turn back the hands of time. I would love for them to meet the real Henry Ruggs, and not the one that was escaping from something. I sincerely apologize for not only being a part of the situation but the fact that my face is always in the newspaper, so they have to be constantly reminded of the situation, be reminded of me, and see, you know, those memories have to continue to rise because of all the fame and notority that I have which I never asked for…I never liked.

The former wideout wishes he could go back in time and undo the events of that tragic day. He has had plenty of time to introspect in prison. He apologized to Tina Tintor’s family for the media coverage that he continues to get while clarifying that he does not like or wish for any of it.

His request to meet the deceased’s family is surprising. The wideout hopes that Tina Tintor’s family gets an opportunity to get to know the real Henry Ruggs III and not remember him as the man who was attempting to escape the consequences of his actions.

“I deeply apologize for just being a part of that

Ruggs III concluded. There is little doubt that Ruggs III truly repents his actions. It appears that he realizes that he cannot do anything to change the events of that night, but now that he is near the ‘probable’ end of his imprisonment, he is seeking another opportunity at life.

Henry Ruggs III will be eligible for parole in 2026. The former wideout has not given up on his aspirations of playing in the NFL. Recently, his friend and Packers running back Josh Jacobs revealed in an interview that Ruggs III never stopped training. He is in good shape and continues to practice in prison. Interestingly, Jacobs also mentioned that a few teams were not opposed to the idea of giving Ruggs a shot to return.
