Giannis Antetokounmpo is one of the world’s most dominant athletes across the sporting landscape. A 6’11” behemoth who can run faster than most NBA guys shorter than him, Giannis is a game breaker. He can take games over whenever he needs to. There’s no single defender on the planet who can stop him from doing what he wants. But his wife, Mariah Riddlesprigger, can certainly put him to shame online.

Giannis and Mariah share a really long relationship history. Riddlesprigger was an intern with the Philadelphia 76ers when she met the Greek Freak in the mid-2010s. They have had four kids – the first was born in February 2020, and the fourth, a girl, was born last month. The couple got married in a ‘secret ceremony’ in September last year. The two-time MVP has created a running joke out of being horny for his wife.

The couple shares a chemistry that will restore faith in true love for a lot of people. When Giannis was going through a free throw slump in 2020-21, his coaches devised a unique training strategy. Each time he missed a free throw, his wife and kids would run a lap of the court around him. Seeing his beloved family undergoing pain caused by his mistakes tore at the then-26-year-old’s heart.

That training paid rich dividends when Giannis scored 17 of his 19 free throw attempts while bagging 50 points in Game 6 of the 2021 NBA Finals. It also introduced how witty, lively and ‘normal’ Mariah is despite being the better half of a renowned athlete. Giannis has since then featured her on his live streams and often engages in banter with her while talking to fans online.

On his latest Instagram live stream, the 30-year-old discussed the possibility of becoming a streamer like Kai Cenat. Antetokounmpo sounded very (fake) serious about trying to capitalize on his fame and taking help from IShowSpeed and Cenat to become a better streamer. But he got shot down, quickly and endearingly, by his wife, who wants him to focus on being a father to his kids rather than running around, talking to people on his screen for money.

Giannis Antetokounmpo will be a Milwaukee Buck for the near future

The Milwaukee Bucks were dumped out of the first round of the playoffs for the second straight year in April. The Indiana Pacers sent them packing in five games after doing the same in six games in 2023-24. Damian Lillard suffered an Achilles tear during the series and is likely out for all of 2025-26. This leaves the Bucks in no position to be contenders from the east next season.

Many analysts had pondered whether Giannis would demand a trade away from Wisconsin after their playoff elimination. Shams Charania had even noted that he was ‘considering a move away’, though his insights were vague. But after the Eastern Conference Finals had played out, the Greek Freak held a meeting with head coach Doc Rivers and the Bucks’ front office.

The meeting proved to be a successful one for the franchise as they announced that Giannis would not be going anywhere. They also committed to trying to find help and build a new team around him in 2025-26. This continues the love affair for Giannis with the city that took him in and allowed him to develop into a star. The Milwaukee Bucks may not be contenders, but they will always have the best player in the series unless facing Luka Doncic, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander or Nikola Jokic out west in the finals.
