Jannik Sinner is in London, training to win his first Wimbledon title. Earlier this month, he played probably the best match of his career.
It was against Carlos Alcaraz in the French Open final- their first meeting in a Grand Slam final. Sinner came too close to win the French Open, for he had three match points in the fourth set. But Alcaraz made a stunning turnaround to end the match in his favor in five hours and 29 minutes (the longest French Open final).
Sinner for sure has become one of the most popular athletes in the world right now, thanks to his consistent tennis, and his rivalry with Alcaraz; not to forget the doping scandal that attracted quite a lot of worldwide media attention. This year, Sinner has been serving quite a lot of bagels and breadsticks to his opponents and only Alcaraz it seems is able to stop him from winning titles.
After his French Open defeat, the 23-year-old flew to Halle to start his grass-court campaign and to defend his crown. But he lost in the second round to eventual winner Alexander Bublik. Amid all these, Sinner received some praise from Hollywood actor Brad Pitt when he was promoting his new movie, F1: The Movie.
To finish…a special shoutout to Sinner. That guy is fantastic!

Feliciano Lopez thinks Novak Djokovic is not at Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner’s levels
Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner now share the last six Grand Slam titles between them. The last player other than them to win a Major was none other but Novak Djokovic.

He was the champion in the 2023 US Open and since then, he reached only one Major final- at the 2024 Wimbledon, which he lost to Alcaraz. Djokovic is 38 and because of his age, fitness problems have been hampering his performances.
This year, he reached the semifinals of both the Australian Open and the French Open. In Melbourne, an injury forced him to retire mid-match after he lost the first set to Alexander Zverev.
At Roland Garros, he was producing strong performances but couldn’t beat Sinner. Though it was a straight-set match, both the players had to grind for hours, displaying a high level of tennis.
At Wimbledon, Djokovic will be bidding to tie the tally (eight) with his longtime rival Roger Federer. But will the Serb capture his historic 25th Major here? Former player Feliciano Lopez suggested that Wimbledon is perhaps the only Major Djokovic could win at this stage of his career as he compared the tennis great with the two youngsters.
He’s not at the levels of Carlos and Jannik, especially in the last 18 months, because the numbers speak for themselves, but the way he played against Sinner surprised me. He challenged Sinner and pushed him to the limit and, although the gap is still big, I see the grass as the only place for him to get to this level that they play because the grass is very different.
Feliciano Lopez told Sky Sports
Before the French Open, the 24-time Grand Slam champion ended his title drought by winning his 100th tour-level title at the Geneva Open. Wimbledon starts on June 30 but Djokovic didn’t play any warm-up events
Alcaraz and Sinner, on the other hand, participated at the Queen’s Club Championships and the Halle Open, respectively. While Sinner lost in the second round, Alcaraz went on to win his fourth grass-court title.
He will be entering the Wimbledon Championships as the two-time defending champion. In 2023, he denied Djokovic his Calendar Grand Slam by eking out a thrilling five-set win in the Wimbledon final. Alcaraz has an 18-match winning streak as before Queen’s and Roland Garros, he defeated Sinner in the Italian Open final.
