Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner are the top favorites to win the Wimbledon Championship. The former is aiming to win the title for the third consecutive time, while the latter seeks to claim it for the first time. However, former ATP star Feliciano Lopez has revealed two players who can compete with them at the tournament.
Alcaraz is heading to the SW19 with an 18-match winning streak. The World No.2 last lost a match on tour against Holger Rune at the Barcelona Open final. After almost two months, the Spaniard has won three titles, including the French Open. His recent triumph was at the Queen’s Club Championships, where he defeated Jiri Lehecka in three sets.
On the other hand, Sinner has been in great form since his return to tour following the end of his three months suspension. The World No.1 has been to two final in his last three tournaments. At the Terra Wortmann Open, he failed to defend the title after losing in three sets to eventual champion Alexander Bublik.
Nonetheless, Feliciano Lopez believes that Novak Djokovic and Jack Draper can compete with Sinner and Alcaraz. The Spaniard added during his interview with Sky Sports that they have the potential to even beat the pair in the grass-court Grand Slam tournament:
I think Jack is a very complete player. If he continues to develop his game, he will have a good chance against Carlos and Jannik on grass. I still see a bit of a gap between Carlos, Jannik, and the rest of the players. Jack and Novak are probably the ones who could beat them, and grass is where Jack and Novak will have more opportunities. But as they are currently playing, I see no signs of weakness from Carlos or Jannik.
Djokovic and Draper have proven that they cannot be underestimated this season. The former has already been to two Grand Slam semi-finals this year and has lost just one of his last nine matches on tour. Djokovic has also won the All England Club title seven times in his career and has been to the last two finals.
Meanwhile, Draper has not gotten past the second round of Wimbledon in his career. But, during the clay-court season, he proved that lack of experience is nothing. Before opening his clay campaign at Monte Carlo, he had just ten wins on the surface, but went on to reach the final in Madrid, the last eight in Rome, and the fourth round at the Roland Garros.
Feliciano Lopez says Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner are the best players on the ATP Tour currently
Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz have dominated the men’s circuit for the past two years. Both players have evenly shared all the Grand Slam titles since last season, already winning one each in 2025. They faced each other at the French Open final early this month, with Alcaraz beating the Italian star in five sets, which lasted for five hours and 29 minutes.

During the aforementioned interview, Feliciano Lopez revealed that Alcaraz and Sinner are the best players in the ATP currently. The four-time Davis Cup winner added that even though some players have displayed great tennis, the pair proved at the French Open final that they are super-high above the rest:
They not only have the tennis skills, technically and physically they are probably the best in the world. But also their mentality and their ability to sustain that level for so long. We saw that in the French Open final when they were playing for five-and-a-half hours at the highest possible intensity. There are players in the game right now who can play one or two sets, but Sinner and Alcaraz have the ability to play at that super-high intensity for so long and I’ve not seen anyone else who can do that.
Sinner and Alcaraz will be relishing another Grand Slam final at Wimbledon. However, the latter holds an 8-4 lead in their head-to-head record and has beaten the Italian five consecutive times on tour.
