Former UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland remains one of the most controversial fighters, frequently making headlines for his outlandish behavior. Known for his bold comments and aggressive actions outside the UFC octagon, Strickland once again found himself at the center of chaos. This time, he almost ignited a massive brawl with his teammate’s opponent at a heated MMA event.
Strickland recently caused a chaotic scene at a local MMA event when he stormed into the octagon and punched a fighter. The incident happened at Tuff-N-Uff 145 in Las Vegas after Strickland’s cornerman was taunted following a submission victory. The winning fighter, social media influencer Luis Hernandez, celebrated provocatively by crotch-chopping towards Strickland’s team, igniting the UFC star’s rage.
Sean Strickland immediately rushed into the cage and threw aggressive punches at Hernandez in response to the provocation. Security and officials rushed in to separate them as the situation quickly escalated inside the octagon. Despite Strickland’s violent reaction, Hernandez remained unfazed and continued taunting even while being restrained.

The footage rapidly spread online, igniting heated debates about fighter conduct and appropriate boundaries in combat sports. No criminal charges were filed against either party, but the incident highlighted Strickland’s impulsive nature. Hernandez talked about the incident in detail in one of his interviews with popular MMA journalist Ariel Helwani.
We were in the fight and they were talking in the fight and there’s only so much we can take. This is entertainment. He said somethings and I said something back and I guess he didn’t like what I said back. He was talking sh*t, he was making fun of me and I think he called me fat. I don’t take that lightly. I said, ‘F*** you Sean Strickland.’ He punched me but I’m still standing and smiling. Hopefully, I will be in the UFC soon.

The last major incident like this in the UFC occurred during the legendary UFC 229 event featuring Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov. That infamous brawl saw Dagestani fighters storm the octagon and punch McGregor after the heated fight. Since then, UFC CEO Dana White has enforced strict restrictions on fighter and fan interactions inside the octagon to prevent repeats.
Sean Strickland reacts to his viral brawl
Sean Strickland’s unapologetic personality often leads him into fiery altercations, both online and offline, regardless of potential public backlash. He frequently engages in unfiltered online rants, fearlessly expressing controversial opinions that ignite massive debates among UFC fans.
The former middleweight champion’s confrontational nature extends beyond social media, as he repeatedly involves himself in real-life disputes at MMA events. Influencers and other non-MMA personalities remain the target of ‘Tarzan’ outside the octagon.

His willingness to confront anyone, anywhere, solidifies his reputation as one of UFC’s most volatile and unpredictable personalities. Following the incident, he took to Instagram stories and discussed his actions in detail, attempting to justify them.
So after the fight, you guys see me corner guys all the time, I’m the first one to shake their hand and say ‘I wish you well, on to the next one’. But after the fight this guy comes up to me, calls me by name, ‘Strickland’, calls me a b**ch, says he’s going to f**k me up… Does the hand gesture…as a man, I’m not capable not to answer that. If I walk down the street, if I leave my house and somebody says that, my soul will not allow that to not go unanswered. I cannot f**king do it…I just don’t have the ability to let a man talk to me like that. Who I am as a person, I will never allow that. So it is what it is, man.

In his last UFC 312 fight against Dricus du Plessis, Strickland was thoroughly dominated throughout five rounds. His performance raised questions about his future title aspirations. Despite the loss, he remains the #2-ranked middleweight, and remains at least two wins from a title shot. Many are curious to see how Strickland responds and whether he can bounce back strong from such a disappointing defeat.
