From making his WWE main roster debut in the 2025 men’s Royal Rumble match to showcasing the TNA world title at WrestleMania 41, it’s been that kind of a year for Joe Hendry. He has risen like a phoenix, and as opposed to some online experts, the Scot’s novelty hasn’t fizzled out just yet. Recently, Hendry received a gift from WWE.
Taking to X, the 37-year-old revealed it was a plaque depicting his WrestleMania debut from April in Las Vegas. Hendry thanked the company for its gesture. The Global Hero did walk a trailblazing path to get himself in a position where he stood across from Randy Orton at The Show of Shows.
The English grappler might’ve succumbed tamely, but that didn’t even matter for Hendry, as he was looking at the grand scheme of things. In fact, despite getting schooled by Orton, no one could ever take it away from Hendry that he walked into the Allegiant Stadium with the TNA world title around his waist. The King of the Entrances later dismissed any claims of WWE burying him with how The Viper dispatched him without breaking a sweat.

Hendry talked about his impromptu match with Orton being a watershed moment for the latter, as it was his twentieth at The Grandest Stage of Them All. Hendry reminisced about growing up as a fan of The Apex Predator, and getting to wrestle one’s idol at WrestleMania is no commonplace.
Joe Hendry reveals what could stop him from wrestling John Cena in WWE
After sharing the ring with Randy Orton, Joe Hendry isn’t losing hope over potentially taking on John Cena before the latter calls it a day in December. In a previous interview with Chris Van Vliet, the Edinburgh-born wrestler detailed his humbling backstage experience at WrestleMania 41.

Hendry was floored by Cena’s gesture as he took the time to congratulate the Scot for taking his advice to heart and showing out in front of over 60,000 people at WrestleMania. Hendry recently appeared on the Battleground podcast and regurgitated his aspirations of locking horns with the Undisputed WWE Champion.
As the Scot has stated on record, Cena has told him that it’s up to Hendry to make their match happen. The former TNA Champion believes that it’s in the realm of possibility. Moreover, the 37-year-old thinks the only reason that could take his highly sought-after Cena clash off the table is if Hendry messes things up himself.
If it doesn’t happen, it’s because I dropped the ball, and like I said, that’s already happened once this year, can’t let it happen again.
Joe Hendry said via Battleground podcast
Speaking of The Cenation Leader, he overcame the menace of CM Punk at Night of Champions amid blistering match-end shenanigans featuring Seth Rollins & company, Penta, and Sami Zayn. The next confirmed WWE appearance from the Peacemaker actor isn’t in the cards until the July 18 edition of SmackDown.
Joe Hendry looks to regain the TNA world title at Slammiversary 2025
Last month, Joe Hendry‘s time with the TNA world title came to an end when Trick Williams upset the former rock band leader at NXT Battleground. By doing so, Williams became the first active WWE-contracted star to hold TNA’s most coveted title belt.

On this past week’s edition of NXT, Hendry made his return to blindside The Anointed One and made it clear that he wanted to run it back with Williams for the gold. Their rematch is set for TNA Slammiversary on July 20.
The Scot has a strong backing in Triple H, who’s steering the creative ship of the company. It was The Game himself who approached Hendry about replacing Kevin Owens as Randy Orton’s WrestleMania opponent after KO was sidelined with a neck injury.
