The 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season so far has been impressive for Joe Gibbs Racing star driver Christopher Bell. He won three back-to-back races, starting with Atlanta and placed himself among the championship front runners. Though ha failed to win another race, was consistent enough to make it into the post-season as the 5th best driver on the championship table.

The Cup garage is at Darlington Raceway for the first race of the 2025 playoffs and Christopher Bell is determined to start the post-season strong with a win. Though he hasn’t won a Cup race at the track yet, he has always been consistent there with multiple top-10 runs, with a nest finish P3 that came in 2024, in the race which was the regular season finale.

Winning the Cook Out Southern 500 isn’t going to be an easy task, as not just the rival driver, but the track itself is going to be major challenge to overcome for the racers. In an interview with WIS News 10, discussing the race, he admitted the high temperature and racing style makes it the most grueling event in the schedule.

What I hate about Darlington Raceway is how hot and demanding and physical it is. It’s a grueling event. I guess it’s more of a love-hate.

Christopher Bell said via WIS News 10.

He explained how he has a love-hate relationship with the 1.366 miles track, considering how challenging the race is. But at the same time, he understands the significance of it, branding it as the venue that separate men from the boys. There is no lucky path to victory at Darlington, every one has to earn their medals.

I hate it because it’s hard to do, but I also love it because it separates the men from the boys. You’re not going to fake your way around a Southern 500 victory.

In a separate conversation, Christopher Bell discussed how he expects the 2025 Cup playoffs to playout, starting from Darlington. He believes the No:20 team is coming into the season with positive momentum and expecting a strong start this Sunday, at a track he has always been good.

Hopefully it’s leading us with some momentum into the playoffs, and it starts off at the Southern 500 (at) Darlington Raceway. It’s a great racetrack for me.

Christopher Bell said.

But the star driver doesn’t think he has been good enough at the track after seeing the sats. This shows how high he rates himself, just like the rest of the garage. Regardless he loves what the track offers and is looking for moments that could earn him the win he has been looking for a long time.

I was actually looking at my stats the other day, and they aren’t very impressive from Darlington, but it’s certainly a track that I love going to, and I feel like we could win at any moment at that racetrack.

Christopher Bell added.

The No:20 team has been a factor in the playoffs for the last three seasons of the Next-Gen era, but has failed to make the final step and secure the championship every time. He needs to execute better in all of the ten races and should try to produce clutch moments like the Team Penske driver that has won all the titles in the new era.
