The veteran sees this as an effort from NASCAR to repair the sport and highlighted the Richard Childress insult being a major factor behind the change. The veteran seems to have already saw the big change coming.

NASCAR in its quest to repair their selves has let Steve Phelps go… It was Steve Phelps that called the legendary car owner Richard Childress a dumbass redneck that needs to be taken out back and flogged.

Kenny Wallace said via his YouTube channel.

Further talking about the point, the veteran racer pointed out that there was no other option for NASCAR to fix the drama over the chat leaks. Richard Childress Racing even shared their plan to sue the sport over unfair practices when the chats were made public. So, the sport had to let one of the most accomplished senior officials exit for its own sake.

No matter what you think of Steve Phelps after a statement like that, the only way NASCAR can repair themselves is what happened today… It had to be done. It had to be done for NASCAR to move forward.

Kenny Wallace added.

The veteran then shifted his focus to how the leadership structure is going to change the sport in the coming days. He highlighted how Jim France and Lesa Kennedy are taking back the power. Wallace is expecting a return to the old leadership style, where the France family had a significant control over the sport.

Looks like Jim France, Lesa Kennedy, and all the powers to be at NASCAR. Looks like they have finally said, ‘How did we get ourself in this mess? Let’s make it right. Let’s go back to the old days.’

Kenny Wallace asserted.
