In Short
  • Eugenie Bouchard nearly missed her flight due to heavy traffic near Montreal-Trudeau International Airport.
  • She had to run half a mile with her suitcase to avoid missing the flight, highlighting ongoing traffic issues.
  • Bouchard expressed frustration over the airport's accessibility, urging for improvements to prevent future delays.

Former WTA player Eugenie Bouchard nearly missed a flight due to heavy traffic close to the Montreal-Trudeau International Airport. She took to Instagram story and shared her experience.

Bouchard, on Sunday (May 3), revealed that she had to run for half a mile to avoid missing a flight. She revealed that people have been facing the same problems for a few years.

I literally just had to get out of the car and run with my big suitcase for 1/2 mile to not miss my flight…and many other people were doing the same. This is not ok. In what world should it take 30 minutes to drive the last mile to get to the airport? The traffic to get off at the airport exit is so bad it backs up onto the highway (also dangerous).

Bouchard, once a former World No.5 player, hung up her racket at the 2025 Canadian Open after her three-set defeat to Belinda Bencic in the second round. She currently plays pickleball.

YUL we have got to do better. We can’t be a city where people risk missing every flight they take unless they go 3 hours early. This has been a problem for a few years now. We used to do the hotel trick (iykyk) but now everyone does it so it doesn’t save time anymore. (and they have security now that doesn’t let you drive up without proof of a reservation). Hoping for improvement soon! Until then, go to the airport EARLY.

Bouchard, ranked No.11 in the PPA Tour, is a former Wimbledon finalist. She played the title clash at the 2014 Wimbledon tournament and lost to Petra Kvitova. Bouchard won just one title in her singles tennis career.

Eugenie Bouchard names the player she thinks can win a Grand Slam title

During the Indian Wells this year, Eugenie Bouchard sat for an interview with the Tennis Channel during which she was asked to name the best player on the WTA Tour who has not won a Grand Slam title. The Canadian ace picked Amanda Anisimova.

I’m going to go with Amanda Anisimova. She is my pick because, well, first of all, she’s been really close many times. So she’s made the final twice last year, obviously at Wimbledon in the US Open, and so she’s shown she can go far. I feel like she has the weaponry, she has the power to beat the top players, and become a top player herself.

Anisimova has played two Grand Slam finals already. She reached her first final at the 2025 Wimbledon, where she suffered a humiliating 6-0, 6-0 defeat at the hands of six-time Grand Slam champion Iga Swiatek. She then played the US Open final, and there, too, she failed to taste victory, losing to World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka.

But also, a balance of some consistency, not with just with her results, but with her game as well. She’s been able to do better shot selection as she’s improved as a player.

Anisimova last won a title at the 2025 China Open by defeating Linda Noskova. She played five finals last year, winning the China Open and the Qatar Open (beat Jelena Ostapenko).

The 24-year-old has yet to progress to a final this year. She failed to defend her Doha title, as in the opening round, she gave a walkover to Karolina Pliskova. She was last seen in action at the Miami Open, where she suffered a straight-set defeat at the hands of Belinda Bencic in the fourth round. She then withdrew from the Charleston Open and the Madrid Open due to a wrist injury.
