- Yuzvendra Chahal was recorded vaping on a flight with his Punjab Kings teammates.
- Chahal's vaping incident follows Riyan Parag's recent fine for vaping in the IPL dressing room.
- E-cigarettes are banned in India, and Chahal may face penalties from the BCCI and airline authorities.
Just days after Riyan Parag was fined for vaping inside the dressing room during an IPL game, a similar controversy has now erupted around Yuzvendra Chahal. A video captured Chahal using a vape aboard a flight, while he was traveling with his Punjab Kings teammates.
Earlier during the season, RR’s Riyan Parag was caught on live television using an e-cigarette inside the dressing room during his team’s clash against PBKS. The 24-year-old was found guilty of a Level 1 breach of the IPL Code of Conduct, and was fined 25 percent of his match fee and handed a demerit point. Just as the controversy ended, another vaping incident, involving Yuzvendra Chahal, has come to light.
The clip of Chahal using an e-cigarette surfaced from a travel vlog uploaded on YouTube by his PBKS teammate, Arshdeep Singh. The video was recorded during their flight from Ahmedabad to Hyderabad following the match against the Gujarat Titans, with Singh interviewing Suryansh Shedge, the top performer from that game. Seated in the background, Chahal appeared to be discreetly using an e-cigarette.

He even attempted to conceal the act from Arshdeep Singh’s camera, covering the vaping device with his hand. Chahal exhaled a brief cloud of smoke, triggering a strong cough. Fans immediately observed the attempt at damage control when Singh’s social media team quickly re-edited the original vlog to remove the segment showing Yuzvendra Chahal vaping before uploading the corrected version.

This is also not the first time that the veteran spinner has found himself at the center of controversy for smoking-related visuals. Previously, the 35-year-old was captured smoking a cigarette while driving, before he threw the lit butt out of his car.
It should also be noted that e-cigarettes are banned in India, which means that Chahal has flouted government laws. As a result, the spinner is potentially subject to a penalty from the BCCI, like Riyan Parag, which would involve a fine and the subtraction of a demerit point.

Furthermore, Chahal could face scrutiny from both law enforcement and airline authorities for vaping aboard a commercial flight. Given that all forms of smoking, including vaping, are strictly forbidden on flights within India, the spinner could be issued a flying ban.
Yuzvendra Chahal rues missed chances; Punjab Kings endure third consecutive defeat
Punjab Kings spinner and IPL legend Yuzvendra Chahal had a frustrating outing against Sunrisers Hyderabad. In a game where SRH scored 235/4, the 35-year-old finished with impressive figures of 1/32, giving runs away at an economy rate of just 8.

Chahal took the crucial wicket of Travis Head in the 7th over of SRH’s innings, at a time when they were comfortably placed at 79/1. He came out to bowl the 9th over. After conceding a maximum off the very first ball to Heinrich Klaasen, the veteran spinner struck back. However, a straightforward catch was dropped by Shashank Singh at backward square leg, with the ball slipping away to the boundary.
Once again, in the 11th over, the PBKS spinner was close to getting the better of Ishan Kishan, but a simple catch was dropped by Lockie Ferguson at the backward square leg as well, leaving Chahal in disbelief. Later during the over, wicket-keeper Prabhsimran Singh missed a crucial stumping opportunity, with Kishan missing a superb leg-break delivery, remaining well out of his crease.

SRH provided no more opportunities from then on, and later defended the 236-run target they had set. Shashank Singh ended up being a subject of debate, with the 34-year-old having dropped four catches this season, the second-most by any fielder in the tournament.
