- Nate Diaz views the fight as a return to normalcy, expressing a strong desire to compete again after a long absence from the cage.
Mike Perry plans to knock out Nate Diaz at the inaugural MMA card of Most Valuable Promotions this weekend. The former UFC fighters are set to go head-to-head this Saturday. This upcoming fight marks a return to MMA for both fighters after a few years of inactivity in the cage.
Mike Perry did fight Michael Seals under custom rules at Triad Combat 1. However, he has not competed under an MMA ruleset since his loss to Daniel Rodriguez in 2021. Similarly, Nate Diaz also hasn’t competed in MMA since his submission victory over Tony Ferguson at UFC 279 back in 2022.
Despite his 5-year absence, “Platinum” Mike Perry fancies his chances this weekend. The BKFC star revealed during the MVP card’s open workouts that he doesn’t think Diaz can handle his power. Hence, Perry wants to commemorate his return to the cage by knocking out Nate Diaz.
Take him to the beach, boys, where I’m going to put him to sleep and when he opens his eyes, he’s going to be sipping Mai Tais, and he’s going to realize where he woke up at. Nate’s a super tough challenge, but I think he looks like a face that I can plant my fist into because that’s my job on Saturday, and I’m really good at hitting people in the face and they don’t like it.

‘The Stockton Slugger’ hasn’t been knocked out since Josh Thomson‘s head kick and follow-up punches ended their fight in 2013. He did lose to Jorge Masvidal via TKO during the inaugural BMF title fight at UFC 244. However, that fight ended via doctor’s stoppage after Diaz suffered a gruesome cut.
Perry acknowledged Nate Diaz’s legendary durability during this statement. However, he believes it to be a non-issue heading into this fight that was rumored for a while now. As things stand, the BKFC superstar is a solid betting favorite over Diaz in their upcoming fight.
Meanwhile, Nate Diaz views this fight very differently from his opponent this Saturday. For him, this fight is a return to what he describes as normalcy.
Nate Diaz hopes to feel right as he takes on Mike Perry
Nate Diaz made his professional MMA debut when he was only 19 years old against Alejandro Garcia in the WEC. Over the next 18 years, Diaz would go on to fight another 33 times, winning 20 and losing 13 of them. Fighting was an indelible part of Diaz’s life up until his exit from the UFC in 2022. He hasn’t fought since despite callouts from former opponents like Darren Till and Conor McGregor over the years.

Now, he is about to return, and Diaz revealed that it feels wrong to him not to be fighting. During a media scrum for the upcoming MVP card, Diaz told MMA Junkie and other media personnel that he viewed this upcoming card as a return to form for himself.
When I’m not fighting, I feel like I’m doing something wrong. It’s been my whole life…I’ve been fighting since I’m 16, 15 years old, pretty much, as far as amateurs and all that. I’ve been fighting more in my life than I haven’t been. When I’m not fighting, it doesn’t feel like I’m doing what I should be doing. It don’t feel right. I feel like it’s time to fight. It’s time to compete. Time to do a seminar.

Nate Diaz knows that he and Mike Perry landed a huge spot on the Netflix card. But the younger Diaz brother revealed on Wednesday that he believes he is owed this berth and claimed that he wouldn’t fight in a lower spot. That said, Diaz also has plans beyond this fight, as he recently revealed that he was eyeing a UFC return. He named BMF titleholder Charles Oliveira as his preferred opponent for a UFC return.
