Jake Paul has competed in 14 professional boxing matches in crossover combat sports events. The 29-year-old has faced Anderson Silva, Mike Tyson, and Nate Diaz, earning key victories. However, he suffered his second career loss when Anthony Joshua knocked him out in December 2025. That defeat marked a shift in his boxing trajectory. Paul has since expressed doubt about returning due to a jaw injury.
Paul’s December 2025 heavyweight fight against Joshua in Miami ended in a sixth-round knockout loss. The former heavyweight champion controlled the bout with size, pressure, and power shots throughout. A right hand in round six dropped Paul and forced a referee stoppage. The influencer boxer was hospitalized with a double jaw fracture requiring surgery and titanium plates, placing his return in doubt.
Since his December 2025 loss to Joshua, Paul has stayed away from boxing and focused on recovery with his family. He has also been working behind the scenes on the development of the MVP MMA card. On a recent episode of The Ariel Helwani Show, Paul admitted his jaw injury could prevent a return to boxing. UFC veteran Matt Brown has now weighed in, commenting on the situation and its long-term impact.
Never fight again bc of broken jaw? How does that work? Jaws heal well. I’ve had mine broken twice and didn’t even get it wired.

He retired after his May 2023 win over Court McGee at UFC Vegas 73, finishing his MMA career with a 24–19 record. Brown holds the UFC welterweight record for most knockouts and is among the leaders for Performance of the Night bonuses in the division.
Jake Paul has remained active in the combat sports community since his December 2025 loss. He has continued engaging with fighters across boxing and MMA. Paul called out UFC lightweight champion Ilia Topuria for a sparring session. He also targeted former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou as a potential opponent. However, his jaw injury continues to cast doubt over any return or future matchups.
Matt Brown recently commented on Jake Paul’s upcoming MVP MMA card, questioning its long-term impact on the combat sports landscape. He suggested that a matchup like Ronda Rousey vs Gina Carano may create only temporary hype without lasting growth for the promotion. The UFC veteran’s experience in the UFC also shapes his view on The Problem Child’s jaw injury and its potential impact on his career.
Jake Paul reveals why MVP MMA on Netflix will be better than UFC Freedom 250
The UFC is preparing for a landmark event as it is set to host the first-ever combat sports card at the White House. The historic event is scheduled for June 14, aligning with US President Donald Trump’s 80th birthday. It marks an unprecedented moment, bringing MMA to a symbolic national venue. However, the announced lineup has faced criticism for lacking major marquee matchups compared to expectations.

Many fans expected the UFC White House event to feature returning legends like Jon Jones and Conor McGregor. Their possible involvement built early hype around the historic card. However, disappointment followed when UFC Freedom Fights 250 was revealed during the UFC 326 broadcast. Jake Paul has recently claimed his MVP MMA card would be a stronger overall spectacle due to the names linked to it.
I don’t think you can compete with this show, and I don’t think they could. They’re already comparing our first MMA event to the most promoted and talked about card which is UFC 250 at the White House. And people are saying our card is better. I think they’re at the same level but mostly because of the White House. If we’re just talking talent and names, then our card is better.

Another major issue Jake Paul previously raised about the UFC White House event is the lack of American fighters on the card. The Ohio native highlighted concerns over limited star power and the absence of key US-based names for such a historic showcase. He argued that the lineup does not fully reflect the scale and significance of the occasion. This criticism adds to the ongoing debate around the card’s overall appeal.
