The boxing superfight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua faced its fair share of stumbling blocks. Joshua and Eddie Hearn don’t want Dana White to be a part of the fight and had that clause mandated in their contract to spice things up.

At the same time, Fury removed that clause from his contract before signing it, paving the way for White’s involvement. Even with that, Hearn and Joshua expects their contract to be honored. Despite signing the contract, there were tensions about the superfight not happening at all.

The first promotional presser for the superfight will happen in London, England. Rumors emerged that White would not attend the presser.

This made fans and analysts speculate that the UFC CEO may not be involved in the fight at all. However, White refuted the rumors and explained why he couldn’t attend tomorrow’s press conference.

No cause I was here. I would have been there if I didn’t have The Contender (Series).

The 57-year-old was referring to his involvement in the Dana White’s Contender Series. The UFC CEO signed four fighters to a contract during Week 8 of Season 10.

There were reports coming from the UK that Hearn and Joshua would have boycotted the event if White had attended. For now, that is out of the question.

At the same time, the problem could persist during future promotional press conferences moving forward.

Boxing reporter opens up about clash with Dana White

Dana White’s Zuffa Boxing 11 post-fight press conferences attracted much attention online. This was because the UFC CEO went off on Eddie Hearn and the media after a series of questions about the Fury vs Joshua superfight.

Reporter Jack Figg of The Sun opened up on his interaction with the UFC CEO. Figg pointed out how the MMA media let White get off easily. This was why White went on an expletive-filled rant during that press conference when tasked with answering difficult questions.

The bar is just extremely low when it comes to honest and pressing dialogue with Dana. He seems to get off the hook all too easily in his UFC bubble. The fear among the UFC press pack to ask Dana anything close to a tough question leaves the promoter too used to an easy ride. Not being comfortable or able to control what was coming his way and vitally what was coming back – as he never usually gets follow ups – left Dana clearly flustered.

The drama between White, Hearn and the media is far from over. Things will likely get intense once White attends the next promotional presser for Fury vs Joshua superfight.

Josh Hokit believes he is Dana White’s favorite despite UFC CEO not showing it

Coming to the UFC side of things, UFC 334 will feature Ciryl Gane vs Josh Hokit with the undisputed heavyweight title on the line. Hokit was given the shot due to his rising popularity and undefeated status.

In the past, White admitted to not liking Hokit’s confrontational gimmick and even blasted him for the Michelle Obama diss. Despite that, the American heavyweight has a theory on why the UFC CEO prefers passive-aggressive stances.

Dana has to say that. Deep down, I’m Dana’s favorite fighter. He can’t wait for my fights. At the end of the day, I didn’t join this sport to be liked by anybody. The whole world could be against me. If you like me or not, it is what it is.

Josh Hokit told Ariel Helwani

White recently said that he didn’t like anything that Hokit said when asked about his thoughts on the controversial fighter becoming a champion.

‘The Incredible Hok’ believed that the UFC CEO needed to say things like this to avoid further controversy. Nevertheless, Hokit’s full attention is on winning the title at UFC 334 and becoming undeniable in the promotion.
