Mick Foley made his AEW debut during the Double or Nothing Buy In alongside Renee Paquette, helping open the show. Foley appeared throughout the pre-show, hosting segments between the three matches on the Buy In card.
As Foley discussed the stacked main card, his appearance came as a surprise to many WWE fans who are not regular AEW viewers, despite the company previously announcing his involvement. Reflecting on what drew him to AEW, Foley shared his honest thoughts on joining the promotion and explained how the company helped him fall in love with professional wrestling all over again.
AEW revived Mick Foley’s love for professional wrestling
When Renee Paquette asked Mick Foley what brought him to AEW, the Hardcore legend admitted that he has always shared a deep love affair with professional wrestling. However, after stepping away from the wrestling world for a while, he revealed that AEW reignited his passion for the industry and made him fall in love with wrestling all over again.

He said, “I’ve had a long love affair with wrestling. A couple of years ago, I took a little break, and I started watching again, and this company is the reason I fell in love all over again”.
The former 3-time WWE Champion further talked about his relationship with Tony Khan and how one lunch meeting between the two about 15 years ago made them good friends.
Moreover, Foley revealed that he immediately agreed to join AEW when Khan pitched the idea to him, saying he was genuinely excited about the opportunity. The WWE Hall of Famer also shared how happy he felt being backstage at the event, adding that he enjoyed meeting many of AEW’s young rising stars during the show.
MJF welcomed Mick Foley to AEW in the worst way possible at Double or Nothing
As Mick Foley discussed the AEW Double or Nothing main event between MJF and Darby Allin in a Hair vs. Title match, MJF stormed to the ring moments after hearing his name mentioned during the pre-show. After Foley got under his skin with a few remarks, MJF retaliated by delivering a low blow to the hardcore legend during Foley’s very first AEW appearance.

With Foley laid out in the ring, Allin rushed in to make the save. Foley then compared himself to Allin, speaking about their shared connection as unconventional risk-takers in professional wrestling. Channeling his iconic Cactus Jack persona, Foley encouraged Allin to go out and win the match “for the weirdos” like the two of them.
With Foley already becoming part of the AEW World Title storyline in his debut appearance, it will be interesting to see what role the hardcore legend plays in the company moving forward.
