Former UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley is among the more colorful personalities on the UFC roster. Not only does he have a flashy, striking-heavy fighting style that fans adore, but he also carries himself quite flamboyantly. But as he prepares to fight on the upcoming UFC Freedom 250 card, ‘Suga’ is preparing to give the people what they want.

After going on a 2-fight losing streak with both of his losses coming at the hands of Merab Dvalishvili, the American bantamweight managed to rebound. He picked up his first win since 2024 after beating Song Yadong at UFC 324 back in January this year. At the upcoming UFC Freedom 250 event, O’Malley will try to extend his winning streak to 2.

But as the momentous fight card rapidly approaches, the 31-year-old has teased the possibility of his hair aligning with the event’s America-inspired theme. The former bantamweight champion told 365 Sports that he might dye his hair with the colors of the American flag for the upcoming celebration of its 250th anniversary.

I’ve been going back and forth. I’m like, you know, for me, it’s like this whole fight’s not very political. Like, it’s just man versus man. But it’s like I am getting asked a lot, like, are you doing red, white, and blue? And people really want me to do red, white, and blue hair. So, you know, I might give the people what they want.

Despite this revelation, the former bantamweight champion did admit that pink had kind of become his signature color. So, the jury is still out on what color his hair will be come June 14th.

Regardless, Sean O’Malley’s hair has become a big part of his fight weeks over the years. Back when he defended his title at the Las Vegas Sphere at UFC Noche, ‘Suga’ showed up with a Mexico-inspired hairdo courtesy of his wife, Danya Gonzalez.

But his hair has also been a contentious subject, as Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera once used O’Malley having “greasy hair” as the reason the American bantamweight beat him at UFC 299. He was promptly clowned by the former champion, with fellow bantamweight Cory Sandhagen also puzzled by Vera’s allegations.

Nonetheless, it appears his hair is not really something O’Malley is concerned with right now. The 31-year-old has repeatedly stressed the significance of his upcoming fight. With that, he recently revealed his goals for it and also what exactly makes this bout so momentous.

Sean O’Malley wants a highlight reel knockout at UFC Freedom 250

Sean O’Malley had revealed earlier that he had “begged” UFC CEO Dana White to be put on the upcoming White House card. Clearly, it meant a lot to the American bantamweight to be among the first-ever to compete at the US President’s residence.

As such, ‘Suga’ revealed that the prospect of facing Aiemann Zahabi wasn’t what made this upcoming fight exciting for him. Instead, O’Malley claims that the sheer fact that he will be competing at such a massive event is what gives the bout its marquee feel. The former champion revealed this to UFC.com’s Simon Head.

It’s weird, because the fight itself feels less big, but the moment of being at the White House and this card being so massive, it’s like still a big fight feel.

O’Malley even claimed that his previous fights felt much bigger as far as his opponent was concerned. However, he still gave props to Zahabi before revealing that he would accept nothing other than a finish over the Canadian.

Aiemann is tough. He’s on a seven-fight win streak, but I have to go out there and knock him out – simple as that. Winning a decision is a loss. I’ve got to go out there and put him away.

Sean O’Malley’s last finish came when he won the belt against Aljamain Sterling at UFC 292 three years ago. So, clearly, the 31-year-old is aching for a finish in this upcoming matchup. However, the question remains — what will the former champion’s hair look like as he hunts for the knockout at UFC Freedom 250?
