The Carolina Hurricanes came roaring back in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final. The Eastern Conference Champions came back from 2-0 down and won 4-3 in overtime at Lenovo Center to level the series. This saw them improve their OT playoff record this year to 6-0.
The Canes needed a huge response in Game 2. After leading 2-0 in Game 1, they blew their lead. This led to the Vegas Golden Knights winning the series opener 5-4 and taking a 1-0 lead.
It seemed the visitors would take a 2-0 lead back home as Brett Howden’s two goals put them 2-0 up. This time, it was the Canes who made an epic comeback.
With less than 10 minutes remaining in the third period, the hosts pulled one back through Logan Stankoven. 2 minutes later, they were back on level terms as Mark Jankowski‘s snap shot flew across the back of the net.

The Golden Knights did have the puck in the net. Ivan Barbashev‘s wraparound attempt at 15:00 did go in the net. However, the officials called it a goaltender interference and ruled it as no goal.
Head coach John Tortorella challenged the call. He ended up losing this challenge, and there was a penalty kill. On the power play, the Canes turned the game around after captain Jordan Staal poked an effort from Shayne Gostisbehere.

The Golden Knights did silence the home crowd once again. With less than 90 seconds remaining, the puck bounced off Mark Stone, with Jaccob Slavin accidentally poking it past Frederik Andersen.
This marked the 6th time the Hurricanes headed into overtime in these playoffs. They had won all 5 of the previous games, which went into the overtime period.
In the overtime period, Seth Jarvis turned out to be the hero. In the power play, he blasted a one-timer effort from the left face-off circle and lifted them to a 4-3 victory.

Hurricanes achieve something not done in over 80 years following Game 2 victory
The Carolina Hurricanes blew apart the Vegas Golden Knights in the final 10 minutes and mounted an incredible comeback. Their 3-2 win in Game 2 saw them achieve something that had not been done in over 80 years.

The Canes came back from a multi-goal deficit in the final 10 minutes and went on to win the game in overtime. This marked the first time since 1944 that a team came back from a multi-goal deficit in the final 10 minutes of regulation.

This is also just the 4th time that this has happened in Stanley Cup Final history. The other three were: the Montreal Canadiens in 1944, the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1936, and the Chicago Blackhawks in 1931.
If im Reading this right…,Carolina became the fourth team in NHL history, and first in over 80 years, to win after trailing by multiple goals in the final 10 minutes of regulation during the Stanley Cup Final. The others: Montreal (Game 4 in 1944), Toronto (Game 3 in 1936) and…

Jarvis, who scored the overtime winner, expressed that this was what hockey was about and that nobody knows what will happen next.
This is exciting. This is what playoff hockey is all about; tight games and momentum swings and you never really know what’s going to happen next. I don’t think you can ask any more of a playoff series.
Seth Jarvis said as per NHL.com
Game 3 of the series will take place on Saturday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The winners of this game will take another huge step towards their 2nd Stanley Cup title.
