Olivia Dunne shared a heartwarming glimpse of her boyfriend, Paul Skenes, after the Pittsburgh Pirates ace unexpectedly stopped to watch a Little League baseball practice while driving through Pennsylvania.
The former LSU gymnast posted the video on TikTok on June 8, giving her 7.9 million followers a look at the memorable encounter. The clip opens with Dunne becoming emotional before cutting to footage of Skenes walking toward a youth baseball field and recording the scene on his phone.
“All while pitching against the Dodgers tmr,” Dunne wrote in the caption, referencing Skenes’ scheduled June 9 start against the Los Angeles Dodgers. She also wrote, “Remembering your MLB bf is just a boy bc wdym he saw a little league team practicing while driving home and pulled over to show me and play catch with them.”
According to MLB, the visit took place at Vestal Field in Wexford, Pennsylvania. After noticing the practice while passing by, Skenes decided to stop and watch from a nearby bench. It wasn’t long before players, coaches, and parents realized the spectator was one of baseball’s biggest stars.
Once recognized, the reigning National League Cy Young Award winner spent more than two hours at the field, taking photos, signing autographs, and interacting with players and their families. He also played catch with some of the young athletes, turning an ordinary practice into a lifelong memory for those in attendance.
The video quickly resonated with fans online, surpassing 1.2 million views within 24 hours of being posted. Many viewers praised Skenes for taking time out of his schedule to connect with young baseball fans despite having a start against the Dodgers the following day.
The wholesome moment also sparked an outpouring of emotional reactions across social media. Some fans said the children would never forget the surprise appearance, while others noted that years from now, those players would still be telling stories about the day one of baseball’s biggest stars casually stopped by their practice. Several commenters also applauded Skenes for remaining grounded despite his rapid rise to stardom.

Olivia Dunne later celebrated another memorable moment involving Paul Skenes after his June 9 outing against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Although Pittsburgh suffered a 12-3 loss after a late bullpen collapse, Skenes won all three of his matchups against Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani. The two-way star went 0-for-3 against the Pirates ace, recording two groundouts and a strikeout.
On June 10, Dunne shared clips of the at-bats on her Instagram Story. She accompanied the videos with an edited image of herself and Skenes recreating the popular “Absolute Cinema” meme associated with acclaimed filmmaker Martin Scorsese.
Tuesday’s game marked the fifth time Skenes and Ohtani had faced each other in the majors. Ohtani collected a single and a home run during their first meeting on May 6, 2024. Since then, he has gone hitless in 11 at-bats against Skenes while drawing one walk and striking out six times.
Skenes left the game with the score tied 2-2 after allowing two earned runs on six hits and two walks while striking out seven batters. Pittsburgh’s bullpen later surrendered 10 runs as the Dodgers pulled away for the victory.
Despite the final score, Skenes continued his strong run of form, keeping his expected earned run average at the lowest mark of his career.
