Jacob Misiorowski just blew away the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday. The Milwaukee Brewers pitcher almost threw a perfect game as he dominated the opposition on the mound and picked up 15 strikeouts.

Friday was already a special day for him before he even took the mound. On June 12, 2025, the pitcher made his official debut in the league. So he was celebrating his one-year anniversary in the big leagues.

Since his debut in the league last June, Misiorowski has been on a tear. The right-handed pitcher has broken several records while throwing laser beams at his opponents.

In the very first inning against the Phillies on Friday, he recorded the fastest pitch ever thrown by a starting pitcher. Kyle Schwarber, who hit 56 home runs last season, struck out after getting beaten by a 104.5 mph fastball.

He then threw 4 pitches over 100 mph to strike out Trea Turner. Bryce Harper was also no match for him as he struck out on 3 pitches.

After 3 hitless innings, Schwarber broke the no-hitter bid with a single in center field. This turned out to be the only hit he gave up. For the final out, the 24-year-old once again threw 4 pitches over 100 mph, which saw Justin Crawford striking out.

He finished the game with 15 strikeouts, a career high for him. He also ended up throwing a “Maddux“, a complete game shutout in less than 100 pitches.

His 15 strikeouts are the most by any pitcher this season. This is the most by any pitcher in a shutout recorded in fewer than 99 pitches, breaking the record held by Tarik Skubal at 13 strikeouts.

This is the first complete game thrown by a Milwaukee Brewers pitcher in nearly 3 years. The last time the NL Central side had a pitcher throw a complete game was when Brandon Woodruff threw one in 2023 against the Miami Marlins.

Out of the 95 pitches he threw, 74 of them were strikes. As per MLB.com, he threw 58 pitches that crossed the triple-digit mark. 31 of them were over 102 mph, which once again highlighted his incredible ability to throw fastballs.

In his last 8 starts, “the Miz” has gone 7-0 in 54.1 innings pitched. With 80 strikeouts, he has pitched with a 0.17 ERA in this timeframe.

While speaking with the reporters after the game, William Contreras expressed that he was not a normal pitcher and that he could complete a game with 100 fastballs.

This is not a normal pitcher. I think he can go out there and throw 100 fastballs and get through a game.

William Contreras said as per MLB.com

Meanwhile, his manager Pat Murphy claimed that this performance from him was as good as it gets.

For me, personally, that was as good as it gets. … In the Major Leagues, to pitch a game like that against an offense like that, that’s that capable, with all of those All-Stars over there … incredible.

Pat Murphy told the reporters as per MLB.com

For the season, Misiorowski is 8-2 in 14 starts. He has a 1.34 ERA with 131 strikeouts. The performance against the Phillies has once again spiced up the NL Cy Young Award race.
