Victor Wembanyama’s ‘We Dominated’ Quote After 4-1 NBA Finals Loss Gets Flamed By Social Media – “I’d Be Embarrassed”

It is not unusual for players to feel disappointed after losing the NBA Finals, nor is it unnatural to believe they will be back to get their revenge. But Victor Wembanyama had a completely different demeanor after losing to the New York Knicks.
Throughout the series, the Frenchman could not dominate the way fans had seen him do in the playoffs. The center has had off days, but up until the Western Conference Finals, he looked unstoppable.
His all-round performances led many to believe that the 7’4″ Spurs phenom is about to use his unheard-of combination of length and skill to end the Knicks’ hopes of winning their first championship in 53 years.
However, none of it happened. The New York-based team used their strength of depth and exceptional schemes to slow Wembanyama in four of the five games.
In the lone game he shone, the 22-year-old showed enough of what he can do. Maybe that is why he said this after losing the NBA Finals in five games.
One of many things I learned is that the margin of error is very, very thin… We absolutely dominated for most of the series. But our errors, our mistakes, are punished so hard. We can’t have ups and downs like this, so much. The ups are ok, the downs… is the reason we lost.

It seems Victor Wembanyama is convinced that they played well. It is just that their mistakes are why the New York Knicks are champions and not them.
Fans tear into Victor Wembanyama for delusional take
Fans would agree that it was their late-game mistakes that cost the San Antonio Spurs a chance at winning the 2026 NBA Championship. However, most of them did not appreciate Victor Wembanyama, claiming that he and his teammates dominated the Knicks. They may have in Game 3, but in every other instance, it was the New Yorkers who had the last laugh.
Fans asked the center to check the game footage and assess how they were nowhere close to dominating the Knicks. Check out examples of those reactions below.
I’d be embarrassed if I were a Spurs fan…

If you lost in 5 you didn’t dominate

I don’t care how many minutes you led for, or how tall and big you may be, or how many blocks you may average or this and that
You lost in 5.
Wemby it’s ok to admit defeat….this is pure cap, Knicks almost swept the spurs

You dominated the first half in all five games, then blew it in the second half four times. That’s embarrassing. Making the same mistake once is understandable, twice is bad, but four times? At that point, it’s a pattern, not bad luck

This kid is delusional. Nobody dominated ish… you got dominated! You won 1 game cuz Had an iconic collapse. And everybody knew late in the game no matter how close it was in the 4th or what kind of lead you had you were going to lose. Think he might be in shock or smthng

Congratulations to the first half champions 😂 constantly folded in the second half of every game

You don’t get points for “absolutely dominated” You’re too young to win a championship. You got punched in the mouth by the Knicks and collapsed. But acting like a baby during the tournament now becomes your identity.

Learn to be humble, even if you lose players should shake hands with those who won, shame on most of your team.

Some might point to fatigue as the reason Victor Wembanyama and his San Antonio Spurs could not close the deal. Sure, they used to start games strong, but their lack of energy and mistakes allowed the Knicks to take over in the second half.
Victor Wembanyama mad that he has to wait a full year for his revenge
Wembanyama is a passionate player, as evidenced by his emotional outbursts after losing to Team USA at the Paris Olympics and after winning against the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference Finals.

Keeping that in mind, reporters noticed that the two-time All-Star was visibly angry after losing the NBA Finals to the Knicks. When asked about it, he replied:
What I’m pissed about is there’s probably 100 games before we can be back in the Finals… I’m going to have to hold that inside of me and slow down and wait and execute for 100 games.

The reigning Defensive Player of the Year knows he has to wait to exact his revenge. It might not be against the Knicks next season, but a championship will do. However, he has to learn how to manage that anger until the time comes.
