The Danhausen-uncursed New York Knicks lifted the Larry O’Brien Championship trophy on Saturday with a 4-1 series win over the San Antonio Spurs to be crowned the 2026 NBA champions. By doing so, the Knicks ended a 53-year-long wait and added a third NBA title to the franchise’s kitty.

The Knicks captain Jalen Brunson was named the NBA Finals MVP after scoring 45 points in a 94-90 final scoreline. It’s not lost on anyone how the Knicks went on a 13-game undefeated streak after Danhausen uncursed them in late April.

The WWE Superstar is now hailing himself as the King of New York in his post on X, congratulating the Brunson-led side. Moreover, after playing his role in keeping the Knicks from catching any jinx, Danhausen has come up with several new demands.

He now wants a statue and his mural to be erected on the side of Times Square and Madison Square Garden. The former AEW star gave the Knicks the full credit for their historic victory, with his contribution just being a little bit of a team effort. Danhausen cursed a couple of the Knicks’ rivals to get some extra human money, which he said he really didn’t have to do, but he just wanted to exhort the billionaires like Stephen A. Smith.

Moving on, the WWE Superstar added to his list of demands by saying that the mayor will now have to give him a parade of his own. He would even like some big balloon animal floating in between Snoopy and Garfield. The 35-year-old also proposed separate days dedicated to himself and the Knicks.

No one could’ve predicted the strategic integration of Danhausen into the entire journey of the Knicks this season to end up with the side lifting the trophy. Now that it has happened, WWE is already cashing in on the hype by selling his custom Knicks tee on the official WWE Shop. Moreover, even the NBA has put up some Danhausen merchandise on its store.

WWE looking to capitalize on the Danhausen-Knicks hype with MSG show

Fightful reported just recently that WWE was already discussing ways to feature Danhausen at its upcoming Saturday Night’s Main Event show at The Garden on July 18 in case the New York Knicks became the NBA champions. Now that it has happened, it’s almost guaranteed that the wrestler in question will definitely have a substantial role to play at SNME next month.

The fans are convinced that Danhausen might blow off the MSG roof the moment his entrance theme hits. They could surely expect WWE to have several of the Knicks players in attendance as well. Back in 2024, Jalen Brunson got into Tyrese Haliburton‘s face when WWE held a SmackDown taping at MSG.

Danhausen is already promoting the SNME show and threatened to curse those who wouldn’t get their tickets. The WWE journey of this wrestler wearing the face paint has been remarkable. After he debuted to a lukewarm crowd reaction at the Elimination Chamber in February, the fans thought that he’d just be limited to doing comedic skits.

Initially, it was like that only with Danhausen appearing in several backstage segments with different superstars. The thing that slowly started to catch on with the fans was his curse-imposing shtick. He cursed Dominik Mysterio in his first interaction with the Judgment Day. It resulted in Mysterio losing the Intercontinental Championship to Penta. And the rest, as they say, is history.
