The NASCAR Cup Series race on Sunday at San Deigo saw the stock car arcing debut of ex-F1 driver Kevin Magnussen, who is now racing full-time in WEC. He had an eventful night that saw him qualify P21, race inside the top-20 for considerable number of laps before some incidents ruined his race as he ended up P27, with running the fastest lap being the biggest positive.
The wildest incident involving K-Mag though was the confrontation with Noah Gragson, who is infamous for having wild interaction with rivals. Front Row Motorsports driver confronted the ringer for being over aggressive, using some profanity laced language, and the ex-Hass driver responded with the same tone.
NG: What’s your f****** problem. You guys come over here, you f****** drive off into the corner, just because you got fenders on it.
KM: Get the f*** out of my face.
Noah Gragson confronted Kevin Magnussen.
“What’s your f*cking problem?”

The confrontation ended when the PR professionals intervened, with no real productive conversation as both Noah Gragson and Kevin Magnussen continued using the abusive language. The last time the FRM driver was involved in the similar incident, he was punched in the face by Trackhouse Racing’s Ross Chastain. So, considering that the ex-JRM driver was lucky this time.
NG: …what, what are you gonna do? What’s your f****** problem
KM: You don’t understand English, or what? I’m saying f*** off.

The duo talked smack about each other to the media post-race. Gragson directed his words at ringers from other motorsports series that come to race in NASCAR road courses. He called them out for being supposedly aggressive for no reason like Magnussen.

These open wheel guys, they get fenders on their cars, they get bumpers … and they’re driving up the inside. We could all outbreak each other, but they’re pinballing it. They’re blasting our inside doors.
Noah Gragson told the media.

When asked about the confrontation by the media, Magnussen admitted that he was expecting some moments. He called out Gragson for ruining his own race by focussing on the wrong things and admitted that he has respect for everyone other than the FRM driver after the incident.
I’ve watched NASCAR before, so I know that’s how you guys play it. He was playing real stupid out there. He could’ve had a good race but he chose not to…It’s tough racing but people have respect. You can’t mess around or you’ll find out. I like that kind of racing…And big respect to everyone except that one guy.
Kevin Magnussen asserted.

While Gragson has the right to confront the racer, he should have been more respectful. He had the opportunity to have a productive conversation, instead gave his haters one more reason to trash his name on social media. It would be interesting to see how the rest of the community is going to respond to the latest Gragson drama.
