It was a difficult 2025-26 campaign for the Indiana Pacers and Tyrese Haliburton. Haliburton was ruled out for the entire season after leading his team to the NBA Finals last year. Unfortunately, the Pacers were a shell of themselves this year.

The Pacers came off one of their worst regular seasons in recent years. They finished at 14th place in the Eastern Conference standings with a 19-63 record. They were just two games over the Washington Wizards, who were left at the bottom of the standings.

While speaking to the media, Haliburton spoke about how he feels after being on the sidelines for over a year.

I feel great. Body feels great. I’m able to do everything. I feel like I’m operating like I’m a healthy NBA player — for the first time in a long time, which is exciting.

Tyrese Haliburton has often been labeled as an “overrated” player since joining the NBA. However, he shut down his critics with some unbelievable clutch performances in the playoffs last year.

He was even seen as a “villain’ in the eyes of New York Knicks fans after eliminating them in the Eastern Conference Finals in six games last year. After a dream Finals run, he tore his Achilles tendon in Game 7 of the NBA Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

While he has stayed away from the court due to his recovery, he has made multiple public appearances in the past few months. But it looks like he is back to playing five-on-five basketball and is feeling good once again.

Tyrese Haliburton and the Indiana Pacers will have high hopes for next season

After a disappointing campaign, the Pacers will be looking to bounce back strongly next season when their squad is fit and healthy. With Tyrese Haliburton leading the way, they will be hoping to make a deep postseason run next year.

The Pacers made a big move at the trade deadline this year when they traded for Ivica Zubac from the Los Angeles Clippers. The big man has shown a lot of improvement in the last two seasons. He is a solid two-way player and is a good replacement for Myles Turner, who left the Pacers last year. Zubac can form a dangerous partnership with Haliburton.

While they did get the number five pick for the 2026 NBA draft, they had to surrender their selection to the Clippers as part of the Zubac deal. With Zubac joining the core trio of Haliburton, Pascal Siakam and Andrew Nembhard, the Pacers will be a team to look out for next season.

Watching their rivals, the Knicks, lifting the championship can only fuel the Pacers to do well heading forward. The Knicks will be the team to beat in the East next season, and if there is any team that would want to do it the most, it is the Pacers.

The city of New York saw celebrations like never before after winning their first-ever NBA championship and their first since 1973. Jalen Brunson led the way for the Knicks with a Finals MVP award. The title saw the city united like never before and saw record merchandise sales.

Haliburton will be eager to take on the Knicks next season. The last time the Knicks lost more than two games in a playoff series was against the Pacers last year. With the Pacers guard feeling better than ever, they will have the chance to pull it off once again.
