Alex Pereira has endured a difficult time since losing to Ciryl Gane at UFC Freedom 250. The TKO finish came with some back of the head shots that really hurt the Brazilian superstar. Since then, fans did not appreciate Pereira constantly complaining about referee Herb Dean on social media as a result of the finish.

On Saturday, an MMA seminar in UK was supposed to have Pereira as the main instructor. The controversy arose after attendees claimed Pereira left his United Kingdom seminar before completing advertised activities. This became viral on X as many fans started pointing out the changes in ‘Poatan’ after losing the interim heavyweight title bout at the White House.

MMA Seminar UK later stated Pereira was not informed about every scheduled responsibility, blaming the fight wear brand Joyagear for the communication breakdown. Now, the brand has released a statement to defend ‘Poatan’ from further attacks from the MMA community.

We would like to address the events that took place during the Alex Pereira U.K. tour. As the event organizer, Joyagear takes full responsibility for the organization, logistics, communication, and agreed deliverables surrounding these events… We want to make one thing very clear: Alex Pereira was not at fault.

Joyagear releases a statement

The seminar controversy attracted much attention after heavyweight rising star Josh Hokit vowed to end the career of Pereira. Hokit’s comment came after fans started attacking ‘Poatan’ on X over the allegations leveled against him by the attendees of the seminar.

Joyagear’s statement also revealed that the Brazilian superstar did what was relayed to him. Pereira took the one-hour seminar, and was not late for the event. However, the former UFC champion did not receive prior information about the meet and greets. As such, Poatan did not stay any longer.

The brand Joyagear has released further details to keep the MMA community happy regarding the pricy meet and greet tickets as well.

To everyone affected, we sincerely apologize for our miscommunication and for the inconvenience this has caused. As a result: All Meet & Greet ticket holders are receiving a full refund… The remaining events on the tour will continue as planned, and we will work tirelessly to deliver the experience our supporters deserve. Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support.

The full refunds will certainly go a long way to please the fans who missed out on meeting with Pereira after the seminar. With proper clarification from the organizer, Pereira can now breathe a sigh of relief after the MMA community momentarily turned on him.

Former UFC champion satisfied to receive clarification about Alex Pereira’s UK seminar controversy

The UK seminar controversy involving Alex Pereira attracted unwanted attention in the MMA community. Josh Hokit responded with a threat, and fans think better paycheck from the UFC may have corrupted Poatan. However, former UFC champion, Aljamain Sterling, never thought for a second that Pereira would act so unprofessionally.

Once Joyagear released their statement to reveal what was at fault, Sterling went on X to tweet about what he thought. He wrote that at no point did he think Pereira handled the seminar unprofessionally and believed that the controversy was getting blown out of proportion. Sterling was satisfied to see the matter getting sorted out with clarification from the organizer.

The loss to Ciryl Gane put Pereira’s dream of holding the heavyweight title on hold for now. The next opponent will only be sorted out once he completes the medical suspension.

Hokit has continuously called out the Brazilian superstar. Pereira needs to rebound in the heavyweight division, and may have to put on winning streak before fighting for a title again. As such, the future of Poatan in the heavyweight division remains a mystery at this point.
