Novak Djokovic was spotted in a verbal spat with the Wimbledon tournament supervisor. This came shortly after Felix Auger-Aliassime won the second set, evening the match at 1 set all.
However, controversy arose when the tournament supervisors ordered the roof closed to make it an indoor match. This decision didn’t sit well with Djokovic. Auger-Aliassime was also reported to be opposed to an indoor match.
The other day you didn’t want to close it until 8:30. Now you want to close it. You don’t want to get to 8:30? It’s 7:40 now. We can play a whole nother set outdoors. We’re an outdoor tournament.
The tournament supervisor hit back at Djokovic, talking about the routines used during Jannik Sinner’s matches. However, Djokovic appeared to be hearing none of it. He added:
With Jannik, I don’t care what happens in his matches. I’m talking about our match right now. You remember the first round, you didn’t close it til like 8:20. Now you want to close it at 7:40. Where’s the consistency? You’re so proud of your rules and you’re not sticking to any kind of rules. You have no idea what the rule is.
