As LeBron James continues to enjoy his offseason with some golf, the spotlight on his future grows brighter with each passing day. A number of clubs have contacted his camp since he became an unrestricted free agent for the first time since 2018.

It is remarkable that even at this point of his career, clubs are linked to him and trying their best to sign him. While he is definitely closer to the end of his career than ever, his agent Rich Paul hinted that the upcoming season may not be James’ last.

As teams continue to bid for James, one of the few clubs not linked to him is the San Antonio Spurs. However, their backup center Luke Kornet put in his pitch for James to join the Spurs.

Kornet joined the Spurs last season and played an important role off the bench. While he had some big players during their deep playoff run, he made headlines early in the regular season when James posterized him with a dunk.

LeBron James continues to be linked to multiple teams with championship aspirations. Based on his last season’s performances, James showed the NBA world that he can still play at an elite level and contribute to a championship team.

After calling time on his eight-year stint in the Los Angeles Lakers, it has been revealed that James wants to find happiness elsewhere. Bob Myers made a pitch for the Philadelphia 76ers, while Stephen Curry awaits James’ decision on joining the Golden State Warriors.

While many would relish the prospect of James playing alongside Victor Wembanyama in San Antonio, it seems to be a far-fetched dream. The Spurs have a young roster and would not want to change it by bringing in a player like James.

It has been reported that teams have been sending voice messages to Rich Paul; hence, Kornet decided to join in on the fun. The Spurs center published a post on his Medium blog titled “LEAKED: Spurs’ Voice Memo Sent to LeBron James.”

The hilarious voice memo was quick to go viral as the fans were caught buzzing across social media.

Fans found Kornet’s voice memo to be hilarious and enjoyed it. Some even believed that James joining the Spurs would be a good fit for both sides.

Multiple teams continue to be linked to James. Coming off his 23rd season, James has shown that when fit and healthy, he can be important to a team’s success. With his playoff experience, elite passing ability, and high IQ, James could make a strong impact in San Antonio. He is not the defender he once was, but the Spurs were one of the best defensive teams last season and Wembanyama can cover up for James.

Sports columnist Skip Bayless believes that the best fit for James would be to join the Spurs next season.

Because if you could have LeBron play point for them 30 minutes a night, they would be much better to me. Because his greatest strength is passing and distributing he could average easy 10, 11, 12 assist a night with that team. But it would be a big bold gutsy move because you’re bringing in that aura, you’re changing the chemistry.

While it is a valid suggestion and a move that could benefit both parties, there have been no reports of the Spurs contacting James so far. At present, the frontrunners for James are the Cleveland Cavaliers and Philadelphia 76ers.
