Carlos Alcaraz, even in the toughest of moments while playing, doesn’t forget to flash his iconic smile. He wants to have fun while playing, and when he doesn’t, Alcaraz has admitted that he struggles.
But Alcaraz has not competed since the opening round of the Barcelona Open, during which he injured his wrist. He missed the French Open as well as Wimbledon, and now, he withdrew from the Canadian Open but is set to play the Cincinnati Masters, where last year, he beat defending champion Jannik Sinner in the final.
Recently, retired former World No.1 Ilie Nastase, the winner of two Grand Slam singles titles, made his feelings known on the rivalry between Alcaraz and Sinner during his interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport. Nastase revealed who between the two he is “in love with”.
We’ll see what kind of form Carlos is in [when he comes back], but great duels are certainly the essence of the sport. Sinner and Alcaraz have shown that tennis is always capable of going beyond itself and constantly producing new players. However… I’m in love with Alcaraz.
Sinner has developed a reputation for being ice-cold, thanks to his calm and composed on-court demeanor. He is nicknamed ‘robot’ and ‘AI’ for his consistency. Alcaraz’s versatile playing style, however, is not the reason why Nastase likes him.
It’s not just a question of his playing style. I like him because he always has a smile on his face, no matter what happens on the court. He’s the best example of what it means to love your sport.
Ilie Nastase added
Sinner and Alcaraz have met once this season, in the final of the Monte Carlo Masters, which the Italian won, and as a result, he dethroned the Spaniard from the No.1 ranking.
Alcaraz, however, stands in the third spot at present because of Alexander Zverev‘s run to the Wimbledon final. Zverev lost to Sinner in four sets.
Italian influencer calls out Carlos Alcaraz after his yacht photo goes viral
Carlos Alcaraz was recently spotted vacationing on a yacht in Italy with a mystery woman, who, as per reports, is Claudia Canals, a Barcelona-based businesswoman. This sparked romance speculation, but a report has dismissed the rumors. Upon seeing the pictures, Italian influencer Alessandro Rossetti slammed the seven-time Grand Slam champion’s private life.

Career almost over. Unfortunately his life is super crazy, he put his own in it. Almost every week, parties, parties and parties. Too bad, what a champion we lost. Unfortunately it will not return to those levels.
Alessandro Rossetti wrote on Instagram story
Alcaraz loves to party and visiting Ibiza after the clay swing has become a tradition for him. Although many have criticized him for his work ethic, many have also defended him, saying he deserves some time away from tennis because of the grueling nature of the game that keeps players on the move for 11 months, including intense training.
So far this year, the 23-year-old has played three finals. After becoming the youngest man to complete the Career Grand Slam by defeating Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open final, Alcaraz defeated Arthur Fils in the Qatar Open final, before he lost the Monte Carlo final to Jannik Sinner.
If Alcaraz returns to the tour in Cincinnati, he will next be competing at the US Open, where he will be playing as the defending champion. He defeated Sinner in four sets last year, winning his second title in the tournament. The first time he won the New York Major was in 2022.
