Spire Motorsports’ Carson Hocevar is having one of the most successful and controversial racing seasons of his career in 2026. He won his maiden cup race at Talladega, went to Met Gala and made it to Time Magazine’s 100most influential personals list, while infuriating his rivals with his aggressive antics on the track.
RFK Racing’s Brad Keselowski on his latest interview with Jeff Gluck of The Athletic shared his thoughts about the No:17 driver. He drew parallels with himself and the youngster, as he was also seen this over aggressive racer when he started his career driving for Roger Penske’s Team Penske Racing.
Carson generates a lot of attention. I haven’t quite put my finger on why, but I can make a few guesses. There are the on-track incidents, for sure. His team is very interesting. Spire itself is this up-and-coming team trying to prove itself in the same fashion he’s trying to prove himself. So, I see some parallels there from the time I went to Penske, when they really weren’t respected in NASCAR.
Brad Keselowski said about Carson Hocevar.
The veteran then talked about the difference between him and Carson Hocevar on the track in terms of aggressiveness. Brad Keselowski pointed out he won’t wreck anyone for a finish outside the front-row, as he doesn’t want to create a controversy if the final finishing position isn’t worth the ruckus, unlike the Chevy driver.
When I see Carson, the biggest difference between him and me is that he is willing to cause a ruckus or a problem further back in the field. That’s an important differentiator. You’ve heard me say several times in different media sessions that we don’t get in fights for 15th. If you’re going to cause an incident or have a moment of serious controversy, for the most part, it probably should be for wins and top-twos or -threes.
Brad Keselowski told Jeff Gluck of The Athletic.
In the words of the 2012 campion, the Spire Motorsports driver is someone that won’t think twice before wrecking his rival for P20. He doesn’t agree with that kind of racing as he believes aggression is something that the drivers should use wisely in order to be successful in the sport.
What I see with Carson is his boundary of controversy is much wider and deeper through the field. Carson isn’t afraid to wreck somebody for 20th, then get out and tell him, ‘Sorry, that’s racing.’ You’re like, ‘Yeah. Yes, it is. Totally.’ But knowing when and how to use that currency is a big part of motorsports.
Brad Keselowski asserted.
Brad Keselowski explains the advantage Carson Hocevar has racing for Spire Motorsports
In the same conversation the veteran also highlighted the talents of the No:77 driver, highlighting how he has the race craft advantage. He also highlighted how the youngster also has the support from his whole team as well as HMS, who Spire has a big alliance with. These factors helps Hocevar o fight for top finishes unlike his rivals on the same spot.

Carson has loads of talent. He’s with a team that is giving him great race cars. The alliance Spire has with Hendrick is very good and strong for them. Their whole organization is going through that on-the-rise moment, and he’s riding that wave and having fun with it.
Brad Keselowski asserted.
The comments from the RFK Racing owner driver are on point and Hocevar should take notes about how to succeed in the sport by balancing the aggressive side racing with patience. It would be interesting to see if the Chevy driver would take the advice coming from the Ford side of the garage.
