When any basketball fan thinks about Dillon Brooks, they quickly remember all the trash talk, taunting, and heated battles he has had with veteran superstar LeBron James.

The two have been going at each other ever since the forward decided to mark the four-time champion as his target when he was with the Memphis Grizzlies. Since then, every time a game featuring the two came up, fans would tune in to watch what Brooks would do.

In those days, his efforts to rattle James often came up dry. The latter was part of a much stronger Los Angeles Lakers team, which meant losing was inevitable for Brooks and his Grizzlies.

In fact, Lakers fans booed him out of the city, and so did many of James’ teammates whenever they got the chance. But that did not stop the Canadian from continuing to target the league’s all-time leading scorer.

Even though many advised him not to ‘poke the bear,’ the 30-year-old did what he could to try to unsettle LeBron James. This past season, they got into it in one of the games, which ended with Dillon Brooks being ejected.

But taunting and trash talking were not the only reason the Phoenix Suns traded for him. On most nights, he was their tone setter and second-best scorer. That effort almost earned him a spot in last year’s All-Star Game.

The Suns have seen how he has played as a true leader and decided to give him a much-deserved contract extension in the form of $73 million in guaranteed money until the end of the 2029-30 season.

Fans left baffled by news that Klutch Sports represents Dillon Brooks

The extension did draw some attention, simply because it is Dillon Brooks. But some keen fans noticed the fine print in Shams Charania‘s tweet, which left them baffled.

The ESPN insider’s post revealed that Klutch Sports helped the former Oregon star land this deal. Even though it was not Rich Paul who did the negotiations, being represented by the same company that has LeBron James as their No. 1 client left fans shocked.

They questioned whether all that ‘hate’ Brooks showed towards the King was nothing but a purposeful act to build his character. Check out examples of those baffled reactions below.

After this revelation, Dillon Brooks’ recent suggestion that he could one day team up with LeBron James might not be a wild statement anymore. However, it is unlikely to happen, considering the latter’s new team does not have any more space to trade for the Suns star.

He is known for trying to unsettle opponents to get a psychological advantage. Either way, the Phoenix Suns will need more of that next season when they try to improve on their playoff record. Last season, the team was not firing on all cylinders and was still better than some of the postseason regulars. This time, after their recent roster additions and extensions, the team seems ready for a deeper run.

Brooks will be at the heart of it all, as the way he sets the tone impacts the team’s mindset. The young team will probably follow the former second-round pick‘s lead as they look to further upset some Western Conference heavy-hitters.
