Carlos Alcaraz, a few days ago, took to his Instagram and posted a July dump, which also includes a picture of his new hairstyle. Alcaraz, after making headlines for sporting a buzz cut during last year’s US Open, dyed it platinum blonde after defeating Jannik Sinner in the final.

The 23-year-old has been on the sidelines since injuring his wrist during the opening round of the Barcelona Open. He was scheduled to make his comeback at the Cincinnati Masters but chose to withdraw from it.

But before his withdrawal, Alcaraz debuted a cornrow hairstyle, but he eventually returned to his natural hair, as seen in pictures from his recent practice session. Reacting to this dramatic change, former WTA player Eugenie Bouchard, the 2014 Wimbledon runner-up, wrote, “…no comment,” in a now-viral X post.

It was Alcaraz who clinched the Cincinnati title last year after receiving the walkover from Sinner. Later at the US Open, the seven-time Grand Slam champion dropped just one set, in the final against defending champion Sinner, winning the title for the second time in his career.

Vilim Visak believes Jannik Sinner will continue to rule without Carlos Alcaraz on the tour

When Carlos Alcaraz was on the sidelines, Jannik Sinner won the Madrid Open and the Italian Open, and defended his title at Wimbledon. And Marin Cilic’s former coach, Vilim Visak, believes the Italian will continue to dominate on the tour until Alcaraz comes back.

World tennis is extremely dynamic. Sinner is showing a level where he is above everyone else, while Alcaraz is injured. Sinner plays incredibly fast, he is consistent and high-quality, and he does not allow easy points. He is performing at the highest level and stands out while Alcaraz is absent. Novak can always cause problems, but these two are clearly ahead. Sinner will rule until Alcaraz returns.

Vilim Visak said during an interview with Legalbet (H/T: Tennis World USA)

Alcaraz dominated at the start of the season as he beat Novak Djokovic at the Australian Open to become the youngest man in the Open Era to complete the Career Grand Slam. Later, he won the Qatar Open by beating Arthur Fils. But at the Monte-Carlo Masters, where he competed as the defending champion, Alcaraz lost to Sinner in the final.

However, Alcaraz suffered a serious injury, and it remains to be seen how he will return. [Alexander] Zverev broke through the barrier by winning a Grand Slam title and showed that he can do it. I hope that will give him the confidence to believe in himself more in the biggest matches at the end against the best players.

Vilim Visak added

Zverev beat Flavio Cobolli in the French Open final to end his Grand Slam title drought. He needed just one match win to complete the Channel Slam, but he couldn’t defeat Sinner. Sascha next competed at the Canadian Open but suffered an opening-round defeat at the hands of Tallon Griekspoor. Sinner skipped the Canadian Open, where he won the title in 2023.

He is expected to be back for the Cincinnati Masters, but recent reports suggest he is dealing with a knee niggle, raising doubts about his participation in the tournament. Sinner, however, has already lifted six titles this season.

Before lifting the Wimbledon title, the five-time Grand Slam champion clinched the first five Masters 1000s of the season, winning at Indian Wells, Miami, Monte Carlo, Madrid, and Rome. He is now the second man after Djokovic to reach the Career Golden Masters milestone. At the French Open, however, he missed the Career Grand Slam after losing in the second round.
