Dana White has consistently spoken about modernizing boxing through Zuffa Boxing and bringing a fresh approach to the sport. The promotion has already hosted multiple events as it continues expanding its presence across professional boxing. However, the latest event at 3Arena, Zuffa Boxing 10, produced controversy after White explained the absence of ring girls.

Zuffa Boxing 10 took place at 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland, on August 8, marking the promotion’s first event in Ireland. The main event featured Aaron McKenna against Etinosa Oliha for the vacant IBF middleweight title. McKenna defeated Oliha by unanimous decision to become the new IBF middleweight champion.

White was present throughout Zuffa Boxing 10 and sat ringside alongside journalist Nina Drama during the Dublin event. Nina also hosted White on her Kick stream while covering the card from ringside. During the event, she asked White why there were no ring girls as usual, leaving the UFC CEO visibly disappointed before he explained the situation.

Don’t even get me started. The UK won’t use ring card girls unless you have ring card boys.

The absence marked a contrast with UFC events, where ring girls remain a familiar part of the fight-night presentation.

They walk around the Octagon holding boards displaying information about the upcoming round. Ring girls can earn an estimated $1,000 to $5,000 per fight, with top earners also making money through endorsements.

Interestingly, the UFC recently featured Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham as a guest Octagon Girl at UFC 329. Cunningham held the Round 1 card before the clash between Paddy Pimblett and Benoit Saint Denis as the co-main event. Her appearance provides another contrast with Zuffa Boxing 10’s decision to have no ring girls.

However, the UFC has previously faced controversy over ring girls, particularly involving former champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. His comments sparked a response from multiple female athletes and ring girls, adding controversy to the role of ring girls in MMA.

White has also been vocal about resisting what he views as the “woke” agenda, particularly when outside groups push views onto his company. He has rejected sponsors seeking to influence UFC decisions, including demands involving Donald Trump and Joe Rogan.

That stance ties into his reaction in Dublin, where he appeared frustrated by the reported push for ring boys.

While the clip featuring Dana White and Nina Drama has gone viral, Bloody Elbow investigated his explanation for the missing ring girls.

The report found no Irish rule requiring ring boys to accompany ring girls at boxing events. That directly undermined the UFC head honcho’s explanation and added another layer to the controversy surrounding Zuffa Boxing 10.

Dana White confirms rumors surrounding the UFC 331 lightweight clash

Dana White has developed a rocky relationship with Arman Tsarukyan over the years, with the Armenian repeatedly finding himself outside the title picture. Tsarukyan’s behavioral issues have contributed to his strained standing with the UFC CEO.

Those issues have played a role in the Armenian contender being snubbed for opportunities despite his position among the division’s top contenders.

Tsarukyan’s issues began after the UFC 300 finale, when he was involved in an altercation with a fan and received a suspension. He then withdrew from his UFC 311 title fight against Islam Makhachev at the last minute because of a back injury.

More recently, Tsarukyan nearly sparked a fight with Dan Hooker after headbutting him during their UFC Qatar weigh-in faceoff.

Tsarukyan is now set to face Mauricio Ruffy in the UFC 331 co-main event, continuing his lightweight run against another rising contender. The matchup followed rumors of a rematch with Charles Oliveira, but those plans fell through shortly before the event.

White recently confirmed that Tsarukyan’s original opponent withdrew, revealing why the Armenian instead faces Ruffy.

His original fight fell out. There you go. I agree [that’s gonna be a good one]. Very.

Charles Oliveira’s withdrawal was likely linked to the recent death of his longtime teammate and close friend Allan Nascimento. The 34-year-old trained alongside Oliveira at Chute Boxe under coach Diego Lima, making the loss especially significant for the UFC BMF champion.
