Stephen Curry is one of the greatest players to ever play in the NBA. While there is a debate on who is the greatest point guard of all time between him and Magic Johnson, there is no debating that he is the greatest shooter in NBA history.
Since being drafted by the Golden State Warriors as the seventh pick in the 2009 NBA draft, Curry has changed the game of basketball forever with his shooting and ability to pull up from deep. Alongside LeBron James, the two superstars have carried the league on their shoulders over the past decade.
Recently, NBA star Monta Ellis raised eyebrows with a controversial take on Curry. His wild claim saw some undermine Curry’s greatness.
NFL star Shannon Sharpe ranked the “baby-faced assassin” as the first or second greatest point guard of all time.
How you going to replace a guy, a top 75 guy? By all estimation, he’s the 1st or 2nd greatest point guard… It’s him or Magic Johnson that’s in the conversation.

Shannon Sharpe completely dismissed Ellis’ claim, as the latter was not even named in the NBA 75 list. Ellis claimed that the Warriors would have had the same level of success if he played with the same teams that Curry did.
Sharpe has come out in defense of Curry in the past and was critical of Ellis’ take. While he acknowledged the former Warriors’ star’s skill set, he was not ready to place Ellis in the same tier as Curry.
Brandon Jennings on Stephen Curry’s prime
Brandon Jennings knows Curry better than most. He was drafted as the 10th pick in the same draft class as the Warriors star. He faced off against a prime Curry several times till he left the NBA in 2018.

Following all the debates since Ellis’ comments, Jennings took to social media to remind everyone of Curry’s greatness.
Steph Curry in his prime was Unreal 2014-2016 good luck to whoever wanna replace that.

In his prime, Curry was an unstoppable force. He won back-to-back MVPs in 2015 and 2016, and his second MVP award saw him become the league’s first-ever unanimous MVP. From 2014 to 2016, he led his team to two NBA Finals and won the title in 2015. He was also the best player on the greatest regular-season team of all time when they went 73-9 in the 2015-16 campaign.
Jeff Teague believes Damian Lillard replacing Stephen Curry would produce similar results
There have been several great shooters in the NBA over the years, but none like Stephen Curry. However, Damian Lillard is one player with a similar offensive arsenal to Curry’s. The Portland Trail Blazers guard can shoot from distance and is an efficient shooter from beyond the arc.
Former NBA champion Jeff Teague disagreed with Ellis’ claim but did name Lillard as the one player who could replicate Curry’s achievements with the Dubs.
He (Monta Ellis) was never better than Steph. If you say, ‘Aight we’re going to take off Steph Curry and put Dame Lillard to the Warriors,’ then I would be like, okay, I could see they get the same results, probably.

While Lillard has a similar skill set to the four-time champion, it is hard to imagine that he would have accomplished everything that Curry has done. But if one thing is for certain, it is that the Warriors could not have asked for a better franchise centerpiece than Curry.
