World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka has provided an intimate glimpse into her future, confirming that she and fiancé Georgios Frangoulis are deep into the planning stages for a destination wedding in Greece.

While the tennis superstar continues to assert her dominance at the Cincinnati Open, she recently opened up about her vision for the big day.

The wedding, currently slated for September 2027, marks a major milestone for the Belarusian athlete who has navigated both professional peaks and profound personal challenges in the public eye.

Sabalenka, who got engaged to the Brazilian-Greek businessman in March 2026, described her current approach to wedding planning as a collection of inspirations saved in a dedicated Instagram folder. Sabalenka said on the Tennis Channel:

I’m just saving things. I have a wedding folder on Instagram where I save inspirations that I like. That’s the point we’re at. Giorgio has been very smart about it, letting me decide what I want. There are a few things he says: ‘Okay, this has to be there’, and I respond: ‘Yes, fine, whatever’. For now, we’ll hold it in Greece. I just want to throw a really fun party so that everyone can have a good time and enjoy themselves. That’s it, and I truly hope it will be that way. I don’t know if doing a live report from Greece would be such a bright idea, because I feel like I’m going to be drinking and there may be some alcohol on the table. Of course, there will be lots of margaritas.

She shared details about her nuptials in a wide-ranging interview with TIME magazine, where Sabalenka spoke candidly about balancing her grueling professional schedule with her personal aspirations. Beyond the wedding, she discussed her long-term plans to start a family and reflected on the resilience she has built throughout her career.

For now, however, the focus remains on the court. Sabalenka continues to perform at an elite level, recently powering through her matchups at the Cincinnati Open. After a hard-fought, two-hour victory against Talia Gibson in the second round, she delivered a blistering performance against Wang Xinyu, securing her spot in the fourth round with an emphatic 6-1, 6-3 win.

Crafting the perfect celebration

When asked about the wedding logistics, Aryna Sabalenka admitted she is still in the “saving” phase of planning. She isn’t feeling the pressure of a rigid timeline just yet, preferring to curate a vision board of ideas that resonate with her and Frangoulis. While some might assume a world-class athlete would want a highly structured or traditional affair, Sabalenka’s priorities are surprisingly grounded: she simply wants a “really fun party” where all her guests can enjoy themselves.

Her partner, Frangoulis, seems to be the ideal teammate in this endeavor. Sabalenka noted with a laugh that he has been smart about his involvement, offering input only on a few specific elements while leaving most of the planning to her.

The choice of Greece as the venue is a deeply personal one. Frangoulis, who was raised in Brazil, feels a profound connection to his Greek heritage and often identifies as 100% Greek. The couple has shared several romantic getaways there, and it has clearly become a place of significant meaning for them. By choosing to celebrate in a country that reflects her fiancé’s roots, Sabalenka is ensuring the wedding is not just a party, but a reflection of the couple’s shared history and future.

One thing fans should likely not expect is a blow-by-blow update on social media during the event. Sabalenka hinted that a “live report” from the wedding might be out of the question, mostly because she plans to be fully present and likely indulging in the celebration. She playfully warned that there would be plenty of alcohol on the tables, with a specific mention of margaritas, suggesting that the festivities would be as spirited as her infamous on-court celebrations.

Aryna Sabalenka: A force of nature on the court

While her personal life is filled with the excitement of wedding planning, Sabalenka’s professional life remains a masterclass in intensity. Her recent victory in Cincinnati was a display of pure power, as she took less than an hour to dismantle her opponent. Following the win, she expressed genuine satisfaction with her focus, noting that she was “not over-thinking” and able to stay present at every point.

The stats support her confidence; Sabalenka’s recent win marked her 45th consecutive victory at the Masters 1000 level, an astonishing streak that underscores her position as the undisputed world number one. Her ability to pivot from the emotional weight of her off-court life to the high-stakes pressure of professional tennis is what sets her apart. She has openly discussed how tennis serves as an emotional outlet, helping her navigate grief and stress by giving her a singular focus.

Looking ahead, Sabalenka’s schedule remains packed as she chases more titles and historical milestones. She is set to face Sara Bejlek in the next round of the Cincinnati Open, another test of her mettle in a tournament where she has already proven she is the woman to beat. Despite the heavy workload, she maintains a balanced perspective, often reminding young athletes that ambition matters, but it shouldn’t consume their entire identity.

As for what comes next, the WTA tour cycle leaves little time for reflection before the next serve. Sabalenka will be back on court in Cincinnati, aiming to keep her momentum alive as she builds toward the next Grand Slam. Whether she is crushing a forehand or planning the guest list for her dream wedding in Greece, she is doing it on her own terms.
