LeBron James joined the Philadelphia 76ers with the sole intention of chasing another championship or two. Some have criticized it, while others have praised his decision, arguing that ‘The King’ has every right to do as he pleases.

He is taking a big risk, leaving his family to continue building his legacy, knowing that if it fails, the barbarians will be at the gates for the rest of his life.

But the four-time champion wants a challenge, which he felt was no longer available with the Los Angeles Lakers or any other team courting him during free agency.

He may live in New York and fly to Xfinity Mobile Arena for home games and practices. But there is no doubt that his arrival has rejuvenated Philly’s economy and that of the team.

Ticket prices have soared, and merchandise is sold out, forcing manufacturers to push their production into overdrive. If this is the reaction before James plays a game, then owner Josh Harris will be rubbing his hands in glee, thinking about the economic prospects his 76ers will enjoy.

The billionaire has another team in his portfolio, the Washington Commanders, who play in the NFL’s NFC. That led a Sportico journalist to ask the 61-year-old a LeBron James-football question.

I’ve never really thought about that. Obviously, I feel grateful that LeBron chose Philly, chose us, and I’m gonna try to work with him on whatever he wants to accomplish.

Josh Harris replied

Harris made it clear that he and LeBron James have not had any conversations about fulfilling his alternate dream of playing football. However, if the topic does come up, it seems the owner is ready to help him get there.

LeBron James’ agent details what the Sixers need to succeed

Now that the door has opened for LeBron James to possibly play football, he could do himself a favor by steering the 76ers to a championship. That will convince Josh Harris to give him the key to do anything he wants.

However, it will not be easy to get there. The five starters have to learn to play alongside each other, and particularly the nuances of their new playmaker. But to speed things up, Rich Paul details what the team needs to do.

If you ask any championship-caliber team, it takes sacrifice from everyone… It takes starters not necessarily getting the shot attempts consistently that they would. That goes around. One night is me, the next night is you; that’s part of it… Everyone has to sacrifice because, body language matters, energy matters.

Rich Paul detailed on the Game Over podcast

That echoes what Tyrese Maxey and Jaylen Brown have been saying so far. It will take sacrifice if this team of superstars is to play to their potential, and that means one or the other will have to take a back seat occasionally.

Tyrese Maxey labels workout with LeBron James and Jaylen Brown as ‘great vibes’

Even though there is a month left before training camp officially begins, that has not stopped LeBron James from working out with Tyrese Maxey. The latter was asked how their latest session went once Jaylen Brown joined them.

Went well. Great communication, great vibes, great energy. Three guys who work really hard who take our game very seriously.

Tyrese Maxey replied

This means that the team-building exercise is off to a good start. It also means that this is likely to ramp up, as the success of this upcoming season depends on how the starting five gels.

If the Paris Olympics were any indication, the four-time league MVP might take the reins as the de facto team leader even though he is joining Maxey and Joel Embiid‘s franchise. They might even allow it, knowing how his leadership helped USA Basketball win gold.
