With six games left, Angel Reese can set a single-season rebounding record that may be difficult to break.

Angel Reese has been on a tear these past few games, putting up surreal numbers on both ends of the floor. But what truly defined her form was when she set two rebounding records in their game against the Los Angeles Sparks.
The forward did not have a great start shooting the ball, but was doing her bit on the other end, racking up her teammates’ misses and the Sparks’ to give the Atlanta Dream scoring opportunities.
As the game entered the latter stages, she quickly matched her rookie-season single-game high of 22 rebounds. The game was nearly in their bag, but head coach Karl Smesko knew what his offseason acquisition was on the verge of doing, and kept her in the game.
By the end of regulation, 26 rebounds were displayed beside the Maryland native’s name, breaking Chamique Holdsclaw’s single-game record of 24. She also surpassed A’ja Wilson‘s single-season record with 458 total rebounds. When Reese, teammate Allisha Gray, and Smesko arrived at the post-game press conference, one reporter said this:
Congratulations on the NBA record, Angel.
The reporter said
Smesko corrected him that it was a WNBA record, not the NBA. The reporter then remarked that Reese knows what he was talking about. Hearing this, the 24-year-old replied:
No, I don’t. Because I be setting NBA records too.
Angel Reese said
This was possibly Angel Reese‘s way of trolling the reporter, as anyone who follows the NBA knows that the single-game rebounding record is more than twice what she managed.
Fans tear into Angel Reese’s response
When the clip of Angel Reese saying this reached social media, it led to an uproar. Fans were baffled by her sheer lack of humility, portraying herself as someone who can manage to hold a candle to NBA players.
Time and again, WNBA players have tried to suggest that they can battle the men. However, those who are aware of the difference in physicality, even one of Reese’s former LSU teammates, know that it is a long shot.
Fans felt that this was another example of why the three-time All-Star has become unlikable. When other great players show disregard for such personal accomplishments with their goal firmly on team achievements, Reese was showing she was all about herself. Check out examples of those reactions below.
She is hard to like. Zero humility. All attitude.

Yeah, I think Wilt Chamberlain would have something to say about that. He holds the rebound record at 55 in a game, from 1960.

This is like a little leaguer breaking a record and saying "yeah I be breaking MLB records"

I wanted to be a fan of her when she joined the league. She makes it impossible.

There it is, there it is…. She has a great night in rebounding and she’s all smug and thinks she’s the greatest…. Her attitude is horrible on and off the court. Other players are absolutely way more humble when it comes to their great numbers. She’s just awful to listen to. 🤮

Everytime she does something good she gotta say something stupid that ruins it

The cockiness is crazy. Why is she so mad and ignorant lmao

Sadly she doesn’t come across as likeable or humble.

There is no doubt that Angel Reese is a master at milking moments to build her brand. This may just be another example of how she picks on situations and turns them into viral moments. No wonder she is one of the most-followed female athletes in the world.
Angel Reese earns Player of the Week Honors
This rebounding masterclass may be the highlight of her season. But over the past few games, Angel Reese has been performing exceptionally on the offensive end as well.

After some horrid misses in their loss to her longtime rival, Caitlin Clark, the Indiana Fever, the 6’3″ forward started to score at an absurdly high 71% before this game against the Sparks.
In this game, she did miss quite a few, and Cameron Brink was responsible for three of those. But despite that lapse, her overall run in this past week was enough for the WNBA to award her the Eastern Conference Player of the Week honors.

She registered an absurdly high 24 points per game for her standards. Reese also tallied 11.3 rebounds and 4.7 assists. If the Dream forward can continue on this late charge, she could add an All-WNBA team selection to her name.
