Harrison Barnes was drafted by the Golden State Warriors as the seventh pick in the 2012 NBA draft. The forward has completed 14 seasons in the NBA and has a ring to his name when he helped the Dubs win a championship in 2015.

During the course of his NBA career, Barnes has accumulated roughly $224 million in career earnings. Over the last few years, NBA players have been turning into full-blown businessmen and investors.

The likes of LeBron James, Shaquille O’Neal and various other superstars have invested in various businesses and platforms as the opportunities and networking that exists in the league continues to grow exponentially.

The latest player to join the list of investors/businessmen is Barnes. Paul Davis, who is a banking consultant at Bank Slate, reported that the former champion has purchased a small bank in his home state of Iowa and even put in $25 million of his own cash.

Harrison Barnes is approaching the latter part of his NBA career. He is coming off an NBA Finals appearance last season. It was the second time in his career he ended up on the losing side in the Finals as the New York Knicks beat the San Antonio Spurs in five games to lift their first championship in 53 years.

It was Barnes’ second season for the Spurs and he re-signed with them on a one-year, $8 million contract. However, it looks like the 34-year-old is securing his future post-retirement with his latest investment.

While he prepares himself for a grueling 2026-27 campaign in the offseason, Barnes had his eyes on other areas as well. The move may have been a surprise to many but Barnes looks comfortable stepping into it after learning about the industry throughout his career.

Tyrese Haliburton had a hilarious reaction to Harrison Barnes’ bank purchase

Tyrese Haliburton was drafted by the Sacramento Kings as the 12th overall pick in the 2020 NBA draft. He played for the Kings for one and a half seasons till he got traded to the Indiana Pacers.

During his spell with the Kings, he shared the court with Barnes. The former seventh pick was already a champion and was in his ninth season in the league. Following the news of the bank purchase went viral, Haliburton had an insightful reaction to it.

HB told me this was the plan my rookie year!! I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. That was the first time I realized dudes in the NBA got real families and are real adults like wtf lol.

It was a hilarious and a wholesome reaction from Haliburton. The Pacers guard still has a long way to go in his NBA career as he is still very much in his prime, but Barnes’ latest investment could be a learning curve for him 10 years down the line.

Tyrese Haliburton and the Pacers will be contenders in the East next season

Things have been difficult for Tyrese Haliburton and the Pacers over the last year. They had a dream postseason run last year where they reached the NBA Finals. Unfortunately, Haliburton ruptured his Achilles tendon in Game 7 of the Finals and they were beaten.

With Haliburton missing the entire 2025-26 campaign, the Pacers finished at 14th place in the Eastern Conference standings with a 19-63 record. However, the 26-year-old is back to full fitness and will have a point to prove next season.

NBA insider Brett Siegel believes that the Pacers will be one of the three main threats in the Eastern Conference next season.

The New York Knicks, Philadelphia 76ers… they have the best starting five in the NBA and then the third team it will surprise a lot of people. I think the Indiana Pacers are gonna be right back to where they were when they made the NBA Finals two years ago. Tyrese Haliburton is fully healthy. He has extra motivation, is ready to go. I really like this roster.

The path to the championship through the Eastern Conference will be much harder next season, as the Miami Heat and the 76ers have made some huge acquisitions this summer. However, the Pacers will be a team to keep an eye on if Haliburton can return to the form he showed before his lengthy layoff.
