Stephen Curry may be heading into his 18th season in the NBA, but he remains one of the league’s best and most competitive players. While they are far from contenders, he remains as motivated as ever for the 2026-27 campaign.

The Golden State Warriors have struggled to make a deep postseason run since winning the championship in 2022. They are seen as a Play-In team at best after failing to make any major acquisitions this summer.

After missing half of the regular season due to injury, Curry could only lead the Warriors to a 10th-place finish in the Western Conference standings. They failed to make it to the playoffs after losing to the Phoenix Suns in the final game of the Play-In Tournament. It was the fourth time in seven years they missed the playoffs.

However, Ayesha Curry offered a confident assessment of her husband’s remaining years in the NBA and a glimpse into his mindset.

Steph is the hardest-working man in the room. He has no days off. He hasn’t stopped since last season ended. He’s ready. He’s ready to get out there. I think we’re going to be in for some fun surprises over the next couple of years.

Ayesha Curry has been through the highest of highs and lowest of lows with Steph. They celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary a few weeks ago, and nobody knows him better than the mother of his four children. She reaffirmed that he can easily continue his career, while also hinting at incoming ‘fun surprises.’

The Warriors are far from contenders heading into next season after failing to acquire any stars to play alongside Curry. With Jimmy Butler expected to be out till early next year due to his ACL tear, Curry will have to carry a huge burden for the first half of the 2026-27 campaign.

Stephen Curry wants to end his career with the Warriors

It has been 17 years since the Warriors drafted Stephen Curry as the number seven pick in the 2009 NBA draft. Both the player and the franchise have come a long way since.

Ever since Curry became the face of the franchise, he turned the Warriors into a dynasty from 2015 to 2019. He has led them to four NBA championships and has won one Finals MVP and two league MVPs during his time with the Dubs.

When asked about his future with the Warriors, he made it clear he wants to end his career in Golden State.

There’s no question I want to be here the rest of my career, and I’m pretty sure that’s going to happen. The deal and the contract stuff will happen at the right time, and we’re not letting it be a distraction from our preparation for the season.

Curry is entering the final year of his contract. The Warriors have offered him a two-year, $136.7 million contract. It is very likely that he will accept it as he looks to finish his career with them.

Stephen Curry should end his career by going to a different team to compete for a championship

The Warriors know they are not title contenders heading into next season. The likes of Curry, Draymond Green and Steve Kerr know what it takes to win a championship. Hence, it makes no sense to have unrealistic expectations in a stacked Western Conference.

With Curry looking to end his career in Golden State, former NFL star Chad Johnson believes that the four-time champion should leave the Dubs and compete for a championship elsewhere.

Are you sure he’s a one jersey guy? Knowing you don’t have a chance — don’t you want to finish your career with an opportunity to win a ring again? Why not end it on a high note? Golden State isn’t prepared or have the team to compete in the West. I would hope they would grant curry that opportunity to leave the game on a high note with a chance at another ring.

While he played just 43 games last season due to injuries, Curry did average 26.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 4.7 assists. He has shown that he can still play at an elite level, but he will need help to ease the burden on him at this stage of his career.
