There is no debate that Stephen Curry is the greatest player in Golden State Warriors history. His influence and impact on and off the court have turned the Warriors into one of the biggest sports franchises in the world.
He was drafted by the Warriors as the seventh pick in the 2022 NBA draft, and the rest was history. He led them to four championships and led the Warriors’ dynasty from 2015 to 2019, when they reached five consecutive NBA Finals.
Curry has completed 17 seasons in the NBA. While he may be past his prime at this stage of his career, he has shown he can still play at an elite level.
NBA insider Brett Siegel revealed that the Warriors will be looking to give Curry a two-year, $136.7 million max extension.
Whether or not Steph takes that or if he takes a discount, the ball is totally in his court. They’ll be on the same page as far as what type of contract extension this is going to look like. If he wants to put off a potential contract extension and wait until next offseason, where he’ll enter unrestricted free agency and they can negotiate a long-term deal there to make him a Warrior for life.

A lot of rumors have circulated this summer about Stephen Curry’s future with the Warriors. They put all their eggs in one basket when they tried to pursue LeBron James.
Unfortunately, they failed to sign him, and he ended up joining the Philadelphia 76ers. They were open to signing Klay Thompson as well, but their former star signed for the Miami Heat last week. In the end, they have failed to acquire any player capable of moving the needle for them. So things don’t look promising for the Warriors heading into next season.
Stephen Curry will end his career with the Warriors
After failing to trade or sign any star in the summer, many have suggested that it may be time for Stephen Curry to leave the Warriors this year. They are far from championship contenders and have been in the Play-In Tournament in the last three seasons.

Despite all the suggestions and noise regarding his future with the Dubs, Siegel revealed that Curry will be ending his career in Golden State.
He’s not going to be leaving the Golden State Warriors. They’re not going to trade him. They’ve had no conversations about that, he’s not approaching the Warriors about that. He’s going to be retiring with the Warriors.

The Warriors missed the playoffs last season after losing to the Phoenix Suns in the final game of the Play-In Tournament. With Steve Kerr continuing as head coach after signing a two-year deal, the Warriors are running it back with more or less the same roster as last season.
Mike Dunleavy believes Stephen Curry will end his career in Golden State
Stephen Curry has not just transformed the franchise; he has changed the game of basketball over the last decade. He is a generational player and talent. While injuries to Curry and other key players hindered the Warriors last season, their passive offseason approach surprised many.
The Dubs finished in tenth place in the Western Conference standings with a 37-45 record. Curry was restricted to just 43 appearances, but he did average 26.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 4.7 assists last season. As a result, the Warriors front office was expected to make major roster changes as it looks to extend Curry’s championship window.
Warriors General Manager Mike Dunleavy said he was confident the franchise icon is committed to finishing his career with them.
He hasn’t [said any different]. That’s always been the message. That’s always been what he’s discussed. There’s two things I’m confident about with Steph. He really, really wants to win and he wants to finish his career as a Warrior. I don’t think that changes tomorrow, August 29th, start of the season, middle of the season, end of next season. Those things are going to be consistent.
Mike Dunleavy on ESPN
While many would want to see the 38-year-old compete for a championship, it is also heartening to think about him ending his career in Golden State. In the modern-day NBA, it is not often that a player of his status ends his career as a one-franchise player.
