Chris Paul was drafted by the New Orleans Hornets as the fourth pick in the 2005 NBA draft. While he never lifted a championship in his 21-year career, he cemented himself as one of the greatest point guards of all time.
During his career, Paul played for several teams. However, his most successful stint came with the Los Angeles Clippers. He joined the franchise in 2011 and spent six seasons with them.
From 2011 to 2017, he was joined by Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan, and the trio formed the popular “Lob City”. He brought relevancy to the franchise, which struggled in the shadows of the Los Angeles Lakers for several years.
Paul returned to the Clippers for his farewell season last year. Unfortunately, things did not go according to plan as they waived him off without any prior discussion. He described the experience as “one of the most disrespectful things” he encountered in his career.
What’s interesting about that whole situation is, it’s probably one of the most disrespectful things that I’ve endured. I’ve been through a lot of wild stuff in my career. I think just because of the investment we made in the team for as long as we have, and to see the way stuff was handled. What it lets you know is that no matter what you do or what you’ve done, nobody cares.

Chris Paul decided to have a second stint in LA. However, the Clippers were one of the worst teams in the league for the first half of the 2025-26 campaign. And to everyone’s surprise, the Clippers waived him, which was an unceremonious exit for one of their greatest-ever players.
While the real reason is not known, multiple reports emerged after his exit. There were reports that Clippers head coach Ty Lue and Paul were not on good terms. In the end, Paul announced his retirement in February after no team signed him as a free agent.
Fans react to Chris Paul calling his Clippers exit as disrespectful
Chris Paul has not disclosed much information since his exit. He did troll his former team after they were beaten by the Golden State Warriors in the Play-In Tournament. It was a disappointing end to the season for the Clippers, and Paul seemed to have enjoyed it.
After revealing that it was one of the most disrespectful things he had ever endured, NBA fans took to the internet to react to his comments.
And now the Clippers have no future 😭

One thing that bugged me, was no players spoke out about it. They just left him out on his own.

U would think players w/ big names would've had his back, but hat wasn't the case. Left him out to dry.
It’s the clippers bro, they are a bum franchise

Fans sided with Chris Paul after how the Clippers treated arguably the greatest player to ever don their jersey. Meanwhile, some fans highlighted that karma hit them as they are suffering today, and were hit with some serious consequences for their scandals involving Kawhi Leonard.
Chris Paul did not get the farewell he deserved
There is no doubt that Chris Paul is one of the greatest point guards of all time. He was nicknamed the “Point God” as he was seen as more of a traditional point guard. Very few could control the tempo of the game as he did.

In 21 seasons, he was selected as an All-Star 12 times in his career. He led the league in assists and steals five and six times, respectively. Despite his small size, Chris Paul was one of the league’s best defenders, earning All-Defensive Team selections nine times.
In terms of his individual numbers, he had his best seasons with the Clippers, but in terms of team achievements, it was with the Phoenix Suns. He led them to the NBA Finals in 2021 but lost to the Milwaukee Bucks in six games.
Paul’s achievements and accolades show that he has had a Hall of Fame career. For everything he did for the game, it is unfortunate he didn’t get the ending he deserved, and the Clippers were responsible.
