The Los Angeles Clippers are going through a really rough time at the moment. They have always been in the shadow of the Los Angeles Lakers. To their ill luck, the Lakers are their cross-town rivals and arguably the most esteemed franchise in NBA history.
However, things were supposed to change in 2019. Under billionaire owner Steve Ballmer, the Clippers were looking to compete with the best of the best both on and off the court. They signed Kawhi Leonard as a free agent in the summer of 2019. Leonard was coming off his second championship and his first with the Toronto Raptors.
Unfortunately, Leonard’s era with the Clippers was a total disaster. Their best finish came in 2021 when they reached the Western Conference Finals. Since then, they have not won a single playoff series and even failed to reach the playoffs last season.
The Clippers are in the midst of a moment that has the potential to break the franchise. American rapper J. Cole took time mid-show to show some love to Clippers fans who are going through a rough patch at this time.
Shoutout to the Clippers fans who are here, let’s pray for y’all.

J. Cole is a huge NBA fan and is often seen courtside during games. He is a supporter of the Charlotte Hornets due to his North Carolina roots and is a big fan of LeBron James.
The rapper is currently on his tour promoting his most recent album “The Fall-Off.” During his performance at the Intuit Dome, the Clippers’ home, Cole took the opportunity to show heartfelt empathy for Clippers fans.
Over the past year, the Clippers and Leonard have faced several allegations of salary cap circumvention. It was reported that Leonard secured multiple hidden sponsorship deals to circumvent the salary cap.
Following the allegations, the NBA began investigating the Clippers. They completed their investigation a few days ago and imposed some strict punishments on the organization. While Ballmer has denied the allegations, the NBA stripped the Clippers of five first-round picks and fined him $30 million, along with a one-year suspension.
J. Cole wanted to show some love for Clippers fans
The Clippers have lost their first-round picks from 2029 to 2033. The ruling was a huge setback for their future ambitions, especially considering they hit the reset button and are looking to rebuild their roster.
After J. Cole tried to give a shoutout to the Clippers fans in the concert, loud jeers and boos were heard across the arena. The two-time Grammy Award winner shut down the anti-Clippers sentiment and left a powerful message.
Nah, don’t do that. It’s the wrong time for that. Hold up. Clippers fans need our love and support. Y’all seen what Adam Silver just did to them.

There is no doubt that the majority of LA are Lakers fans. So, it’s safe to assume most of the crowd were Lakers fans, enjoying the current state of their rivals. The next few years will be difficult for the Clippers and their fans.
They will be praying that their recent pick, Keaton Wagler, turns out to be a future superstar in the league. He was drafted as the fifth pick this year, and it was a nice parting gift after trading Ivica Zubac to the Indiana Pacers. Wagler is a player to get excited about, regardless of the future draft picks situation for the Clippers
Kawhi Leonard is the worst player investment in NBA history
The whole Kawhi Leonard situation with the Clippers over the past year is just a cherry on top after their miserable partnership. While injuries have been a constant throughout his career, he has never been able to lead the franchise to any glory in seven years.

Leonard was also issued a fine of just $700k after the investigation. Many believe that he got away with a light punishment, while the Clippers faced the brunt of it. To make matters worse, he will not be a part of their rebuild as he will be joining the Raptors this year.
Sports analyst Skip Bayless called Leonard the worst player investment in league history.
Kawhi Leonard cost the Clippers TEN FIRST-ROUND DRAFT PICKS and in 6 seasons he played in only 1 conference semi – the blown 3-1 lead to Denver in the Bubble. Ballmer made the worst player investment in NBA history. He’s suspended for a year, Kawhi escapes to Toronto.

The Clippers’ future looks very uncertain at the moment. However, Leonard will have the opportunity to start a new chapter and look to contend for a championship with the Raptors next season.
