There seem to be more and more secrets emerging when it comes to Kawhi Leonard and his spell with the Los Angeles Clippers. Based on new reports, Leonard secured an undisclosed multimillion-dollar sponsorship with Daktronics, the company that designed the Clippers’ signature Halo Board video board at Intuit Dome, which is the home arena of the Clippers.
The two-time champion is coming off his best campaign in recent years. He was healthy for the majority of the season, playing in 65 regular-season games and one Play-In Tournament game. He posted career-high numbers in terms of scoring as he averaged 27.9 points last season.
Unfortunately, recent investigations have been causing him more issues off the court. He is already under the scanner for the Aspiration scandal. But more information is pouring in regarding his other deals, which may have been done to circumvent the salary cap.
According to Pablo Torre, who is a former ESPN contributor, an “anonymous high-level source under contract for Intuit Dome” alleged that the deal with Daktronics was “1,000% a way to circumvent the salary cap.”
This Kawhi Leonard deal was not just talked about by higher-ups with the Clippers to circumvent the salary cap… This second source was also told that Kawhi’s Daktronics sponsorship was a multimillion-dollar deal.

Before the 2025-26 campaign got underway, Clippers billionaire owner Steve Ballmer had redirected $28 million to Kawhi Leonard. The whole deal through Aspiration was seen as a way to circumvent the salary cap.
Aspiration went bankrupt and was accused of defrauding its investors, but Ballmer denied all the allegations. While Ballmer received support, it has only led to further investigations. It was only last week that Torre revealed that Leonard and his inner circle were simultaneously involved in another project and were long-hidden investors behind the Rhode Island soccer project. Leonard’s inner circle included his uncle and his former agent.

Baller must sell the team, and Kawhi must forfeit the money he received, which probably won’t happen, therefore, he must be suspended and fined the amount of game checks that total the money he made from this.

Unpopular opinion here. In the grand scheme of things this is not a huge deal….. I know they broke the rules and there should be a little punishment (a fine and maybe losing a draft pick), but honestly he signed an extension for slightly below the max and then they comped him…

Can we be real for a second? How is every Athlete Sponsorship not a circumvention of salary caps? Play in a place like NY, LA, or any other big market and you'll see them not need to take as much in their contract because they'll make it up in sponsorships.

It cracks me up when videos like this use an anonymous source. They don’t show their face and manipulate their voice, people watch it and believe it. 😂

Fans were left questioning all the sponsorship deals, considering Kawhi Leonard was on a max deal with the Clippers. Meanwhile, some fans believe that there is nothing wrong with it, as Leonard did not take a huge salary cut and circumvented the salary cap so that the Clippers could sign better players.
Toronto Raptors are eagerly awaiting the results of the Kawhi Leonard investigation
Kawhi Leonard joined the Clippers in 2019 after winning the championship with the Toronto Raptors. Unfortunately for the Clippers, Leonard struggled with injuries and was never able to lead them to a title. After years of disappointment, the Clippers decided to hit the reset button and traded away their star player to the Raptors last month.

However, the deal has been kept on hold as the NBA has gotten involved and is investigating the Clippers. Till the investigation is completed, the deal cannot go ahead. However, the Raptors issued a statement saying they would be willing to go ahead with the move irrespective of the findings.
Recent reports suggested that the investigation can carry over till 2027. But with more and more findings, things have gotten a lot messier now. The investigation taking time has gotten NBA fans baffled, but it looks like there is a lot more than meets the eye. With Leonard stuck with the Clippers, it remains to be seen if he decides to suit up for the Clippers next season.
