Spire Motorsports’ Carson Hocevar has found himself in the middle of another controversy after the wreck involving 2012 Cup champion Brad Keselowski last Sunday at Darlington. Towards the end of the race, a massive mistake from the Spire Motorsports driver while attempting move up the track, ended up spinning out the RFK Racing owner driver.
What made the incident more egregious is the comments from the Chevy driver about the incident. He was clearly dismissive over his mistake behind the incident: saying “he just spun.” This infuriated broadcaster Jeff Burton and the Hall of Famer called out the youngster while discussing the event on his post-race show with Dale Jarrett.

It’s okay to make a mistake. Just [say], ‘I made a mistake.’ I don’t understand the ‘He just spun,’ thing. At some point, the competitors are going to get sick of it.
Jeff Burton said post-race.
He asserted that there is no-one, but Carson Hocevar is to blame for the incident and the racers dismissive attitude towards the incident is clearly concerning. According to Jeff Burton, the comments show the Spire racer lacks respect for his rivals, especially a former champion and a future Hall of Famer like Brad Keselowski.
Here it is. How is this anybody’s but Carson’s fault? I just don’t understand how we can look at it any other way. I just can’t understand the dismissal of it. It doesn’t make sense to me. You have to have more respect for your competitors. That’s baffling to me. ‘Well, he spun.’ That’s a champion. Brad Keslowski is a champion. You don’t just spin him around and dismiss him.

Later in the same conversation, the veteran broadcasters also talked about Spire Motorsports’ attitude towards the youngster’s controversial racing style. He believes Jeff Dickerson and the ownership group doesn’t care about the drama and asserted that there will come a time where they have to say enough is enough.
They don’t seem to care. They just don’t seem to care. They seem to be okay with it. And maybe that’s right. I don’t know. He’s got a long-term contract. They believe in him. I’m not going to question Jeff Dickerson and ownership. You would think at some point they’d need to say ‘enough’s enough,’ but to this point publicly anyway, they don’t seem to care a whole lot.
Jeff Burton asserted.
Dale Jarrett gives Carson Hocevar a serious warning over aggressive racing
Hall of Famer Dale Jarrett also slammed the youngster for his attitude and reminded him that he is making too many enemies. He highlighted the importance of earning the respect of the Cup rivals and how that would help him to win championships. Making everyone mad is always going to hurt him in the long-run.

You can’t just dismiss that. It’s going to come back on you. If he’s willing to take what comes back to you, then keep having at it. Go act the way that you want. That’s perfectly fine. I can’t tell him how to go about trying to win races and win a championship, but I can assure you it’s not in a way where you make everybody mad, because you’re going to need some help. You’re going to need cooperation along the way.
Dale Jarrett asserted.
The comments from the Hall of Famer are on point and it isn’t the first time Hocevar has received similar criticism or advice. It would be interesting to see how everything is going to playout for the star driver in the remaining nine races of the season.
