Tyrese Haliburton has been through some ups and downs over the past year. After rupturing his Achilles tendon in Game 7 of the NBA Finals last year, he was forced to miss the entire 2025-26 campaign.

While it was a huge setback in his professional career, his personal life was much better. Haliburton has been dating Jade Jones since their college days at Iowa State University.

After getting engaged last year, the couple took an important life step this summer when they officially tied the knot. Haliburton wanted live music at his wedding but quickly discovered it comes with a staggering price tag.

During a recent appearance on Boardroom Talks, he revealed that artists quoted as high as $750,000 for a 30-minute performance. He was ready to drop the idea of live music until 50 Cent came to his rescue.

It was special. We’ve been able to have a cool relationship for a while. He was supposed to come to my wedding, he was helping me look for performers to perform at the wedding. We went to a bunch of different people. Prices is kinda crazy. 30 minutes. 750 bands. I was shocked. So I was like ‘I ain’t gonna do nothing’. He was like ‘Nah, I’m gonna do it brother’.

The couple tied the knot at an Indianapolis courthouse in July before their formal wedding ceremony. The wedding ceremony was held in the following month and saw several A-listers in attendance. The photos of the wedding were loved by many, and even LeBron James congratulated the couple on their big day.

Several clips of 50 Cent performing at the wedding went viral across social media. The two share a good relationship with each other as the artist’s alcohol is a sponsor for the Indiana Pacers. The rapper came to Haliburton’s rescue and even performed at the wedding for free.

Haliburton expected a substantial cost for a live performance at his wedding, but the figure of $750k for just 30 minutes definitely caught him off guard. The Pacers guard did not tell anyone about 50 Cent’s performance as he wanted to leave it as a surprise for the wedding guests.

After he revealed that 50 Cent performed at his wedding for free, fans were quick to react to his comments.

Fans heaped praise on 50 Cent for the gesture, as it reflected a relationship that went beyond a business transaction. Haliburton was forever grateful to him and even called him family for what he did.

Tyrese Haliburton is one of the top earners in the NBA. He signed a five-year, $244.6 million contract with the Pacers in 2024. Hence, it is not surprising that a couple of rappers charged him $750k for 30-minute performances.

The 26-year-old tried to work out an alternative arrangement by offering to cover private-jet travel and accommodations. However, he was disappointed when one of the rappers left him on read and didn’t respond.

During the interview, he revealed that the experience left him so frustrated that he no longer wanted to listen to the artist’s music.

I hit him. I said ‘I can’t do that. But if you want, I can pay for the PJ, accommodations. You good. I’ll take care of it completely.’ He left me on read. After that I said ‘It’s over with, I’ll never rock with him. I can’t bump him out of respect.’
