The past year has been anything but easy for Tyrese Haliburton. He tore his Achilles tendon in the NBA Finals last year and was ruled out for the entire 2025-26 season due to the devastating injury.
Drafted by the Sacramento Kings as the 12th pick in the 2020 NBA draft, Haliburton did not hit it off right away. He was traded to the Indiana Pacers during his second season. Since then, many have viewed the trade as a steal for the Pacers due to his impressive performances. He was rewarded for his performances with a five-year, 244.6 million contract two years ago.
During his appearance on Boardroom Talks, Haliburton revealed that his first purchase after signing his new contract was a 250k watch.
When I signed my deal or the year before I signed my deal, I bought a Presi and I was like ‘Oh man, this is like a high buying it’. I needed a watch because everybody got a watch and I ain’t got anything. After I signed my deal, I bought this mini tank.

NBA players are well known for splurging after signing contracts. Several players are fans of watches, and Haliburton is no different.
The Pacers guard has admired watches since a young age. It is an investment for the future and can be passed down from generation to generation.
Movado helped Tyrese Haliburton control his obsession with watches
After the Sacramento Kings drafted him in 2020, things didn’t work out well for Haliburton at first. He was traded to the Pacers and was rewarded with a hefty contract in 2024.

Tyrese Haliburton became one of the biggest names in the NBA after leading the Pacers to the NBA Final last year. His earnings also grew through endorsements over the last few years.
During the conversation on Boardroom Talks, Haliburton spoke about off-court endeavors and how Movado helped him to contain his obsession with watches.
As time goes on, investment in stuff is a lot more important for me. Puma’s been my biggest partner. Movado on the watch side has helped me a lot because I was going down a crazy rabbit hole. When I signed my deal, I was buying a million watches. I was getting ready to do a lot of dumb stuff and signing with Movado grounded me.

Tyrese Haliburton was conflicted about watching the Knicks’ title celebration
It is very unfortunate that Haliburton and the Pacers were just one win away from winning the championship last year. In the end, the Oklahoma City Thunder won Game 7 and lifted their first-ever championship.
To make matters worse for Haliburton, the New York Knicks became champions this year for the first time in 53 years. It is no secret that Haliburton has a strained relationship with the Knicks fanbase.
The Pacers star said he had mixed emotions watching the Knicks win the title this year.
I usually watch a Finals celebration because that’s a special thing. But when the Knicks won I thought to myself ‘I got to turn this sh*t off’. I was with wifey and some friends and they were like, ‘You want us to turn it off?’ And I was like, ‘You know what? Leave it on. Let me watch it’. It’s a weird feeling cuz like are they our rivals? Yes.

“The Knicks are they like our rival? Yes. But like are those guys like, I like those guys and like their friends? Yeah. At the same time, you know, like I usually watch like a finals… https://t.co/MDsbnQKtGG pic.twitter.com/O7BoJVvM7p
Haliburton will be raring to go after a year away from the court. The Pacers are expected to make some noise in the Eastern Conference next season with a healthy Haliburton back in the lineup.
