Bronny James will be entering his third year in the NBA. The Los Angeles Lakers drafted him with the 55th pick in the 2024 NBA draft. While he was a second-round pick, it was one of the most publicized moves as he joined a team with his father, LeBron James.

Bronny and LeBron shared the locker room for two seasons before the King decided not to re-sign with the Lakers at the end of the 2025-26 campaign. He signed a two-year deal with the Philadelphia 76ers.

The two are scheduled to face off on Christmas Day this year. It will also be James’ return to the Crypto.com Arena for the first time since his departure.

Speaking to ESPN LA, Bronny was asked who his mom, Savannah James, and his younger sister would be supporting when the Lakers host the 76ers.

Probably me. I know my sister will be rooting for me. I don’t know about my mom.

James’ family is known for being a tight-knit unit. While he has undoubtedly been the best player in the league for nearly two decades, his beautiful family life is another reason James is often regarded as the face of the NBA.

Bronny and LeBron will face off against each other twice next season, and their first clash will be in LA on Christmas Day. Since LeBron’s move to Philly, the 76ers have seen an increase in nationally televised games as they dominated Opening Night and Christmas Day games.

While there is still a lot of time for their clash in December, Bronny James is already sure that his sister, Zhuri James, will be supporting him against their father even though she shares a great father-daughter relationship with the King. Bronny will need all the family support he can get as he tries to make a name for himself this year.

Bronny James is excited to experience life without LeBron James

Life in the NBA has not been easy for Bronny James. He may be one of the longest-serving players in the franchise, but he is yet to make a mark in the Lakers.

He has struggled for minutes in his first two seasons. He averaged just 2.9 points in 42 appearances and averaged under nine minutes per game last season. However, he did feature off the bench against the Houston Rockets in the first round of the playoffs and created some history alongside his father.

Things will be different for Bronny without LeBron James by his side next season. But the 21-year-old is excited and is also curious to see whether the organization treats him differently now that his father is no longer around.

It’s something different for sure. I’m excited for the experience, experience something different with him not being here and to see how the staff treats me without him being here. I’m excited for it, and I’m excited for the season.

During his Media Day press conference, Doncic was asked how it feels to be the leader after James’ departure.

It feels great. Obviously, its a new challenge. I was in this position in my career a lot of times so it is not new to me. I feel great, I feel excited and I am ready to go.
